Next-Generation Ram Pickup Will Take A Futuristic Turn

Ralph Gilles Hints At A Bold New Direction For Ram’s Next Truck Design

Stellantis Chief Design Officer Ralph Gilles says the company is already deep into the design phase of the next-generation Ram pickup, and according to him, it will bring a noticeably more futuristic look to America’s most competitive vehicle segment.

Fine by me. I'm not driving a truck to try to look cool or aggressive. If a more sweeped front leads to better gas mileage, then that's just a bonus. Just as long as it is still very roomy for passengers and has lots of cargo space and RamBoxes!

Although I would prefer they drop the glowing logos (at least the side one) - looks too ostentatious.

I see no gas fill(I know only concept).
Suicide doors!!!!
It better keep up with towability in all lines or they are dead.

Dodge has always tried to be different ever since the third gen came out. As long as it it does not look like a jelly bean I can be on board. I'm generally not a fan of Ford and GM styling especially the Fords.

"accumulated extra features and styling elements that drive up cost and complexity. Now, designers are re-evaluating what is truly necessary....So we’re starting fresh and asking what actually needs to be there.”

I like the stated philosophy, though I wonder who they are asking. Stellantis does not have a good recent track record when it comes to delivering brand new vehicles/options that people actually want. I am very interested to see the end product. I have said I am done buying new vehicles, but I still have quite a few driving years ahead of me...

Relax you guys. As with almost all concept vehicles, only a few things from that concept truck will make it to production, like the front end and maybe the tail lights. No way the next Ram 1500 will look anything like that truck.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the extendable bed and 50/50 split tailgate that converts to extended bed sides. It's intriguing but it's not even legal with the tail lights being hidden like that behind the extended bed sides. The open rear cab is ridiculous from a company that already has problems sealing the cab from water intrusion. :ROFLMAO:

This is an old concept truck that was put out a few years ago when talking about the BEV concept, probably has little to do with the next gen 1500. Just a design exercise.

Gilles has a great history, but some recent misses like the Wagoneer.
