How To Use AlfaOBD On 2025+

I used a gearwrench (gwsmartbt) to open the security gateway with auto auth and I used a mx+ for alfaobd. I changed my seats out for Laramie seats. I got the ventilated seats turned, fog light dropout off, 3 horn honks off. I also tried to turn on offroad pages and performance pages but it didn't work. I tried doing the proxy align that is on alfaobd and it got all the warning lights off except the airbag light and my radio says SOS system not available when you first start the truck and mileage is flashing. On the proxy align using alfaobd the only things that failed were the instrument cluster and tcm.

Although alfa says completed it likely failed the ORC, DTCM, TCM etc. The sos unavailable happens when the ORC/SRS airbag module fails and can’t be activated. Basically all your airbag deployments are off and cause that pop up to happen when ORC cannot be initialized. Thats the issue a lot of people have with alfa and most dongles so far only MDP has been able to successfully align everything.

Went in for trailer module recall. Completed without issue.

Can confirm the tech's don't routinely "restore vehicle configuration" The tech replaced the module and ran a proxy alignment. All the changes I made with @Abhi.K help and with @jpbr2025 work were retained.

For anyone wondering, all settings that @Jimmy07 shared worked perfectly!

Installed LED headlights and tails, all animations work perfectly and had dealership run proxy alignment. Honestly had 0 push back from the dealership, I was just honest with them and told them what I did. They charged me 1 hour of labor which is still cheaper than the J2534 tool (I guess it makes sense if you only are doing 1 update rather than multiple)

S/O @Jimmy07 for figuring all this out and helping with questions along the way.
Nice - roundabout figure for what the set of headlights and taillights ran you?

@Jimmy07 If we didn't care about animations, would a retrofit of the LED projector headlights and taillights be just a wiring harness and no AlfaOBD+Proxy Alignment effort?

I had my trailer brake recall on Wednesday so figured I’d try it too as I was curious. It seems I had better luck than you as I was able to proxi align (IPC & TCM didn’t align with Alfa as well) and clear all DTCs except the BCM and ECU which was keeping the odometer flashing till they did my recall.

About $1200 for the headlights and $450 for taillights

Could you share your sources for the head/tail lights? There's quite a bit of variation on cost from various online vendors, so additional input would be helpful to find best prices....

After the truck has been sitting for 15 minutes, connect to witech again, and finish by clearing all the DTC’s:

Would you happen to know how to add the power folding mirror option to the 2025+ trucks? I am coming from non-power folding tow mirrors to power-folding standard mirrors. I have replaced the door modules and the driver door switch. The dealership has been unsuccessful in adding the feature. Just curious if you had any insight on how to do it. Possibly with AlfaOBD? Thanks!

Ive been out of this game for over a decade, I was involved with the early pioneering of re-configuring Challengers, Chargers, etc. back in 2008-2014. I have a laptop setup with old cda software & a Vector Cancard XL. I realize alot has changed with this newer Atlantis can architecture. I also have a 2025 Ram that I want to make some changes on. Will the Cancard XL work in place of one of the required tools listed above, along with some new software??
Also Thanks to Jimmy07 & others who are devoting time into this, I remember guinea pigging my cars back in the early days figuring things out, Im ready to get back in the game.

I have tried CancaseXL and its no go. Those are not FD compliant so it won’t work for everything.

I'm also needing to do the exact same thing. I see in Alfa under the Grand Cherokee (which is what we use to make changes to these trucks) that power folding mirrors is an option, I just don't know how to go about it still. This process is still pretty complicated to me when I read through it.

Alright, here’s all the info on how to use alfaobd on these 2025+ 1500’s. For those of you who are familiar with using it on previous Rams, Jeeps, Dodges, etc, this is going to be very different, and at first seem a little overwhelming.

The modules (ECUs) in these 2025 trucks use a proxi configuration, which isn’t anything new (Jeep Cherokees, Promasters, Darts have used it for years). This means that pretty much any module you replace or add, or any change to the BCM configuration, you have to perform a proxi alignment afterwards. The proxi alignment basically tells all the modules what the vehicle configuration is by “aligning” them all. A telltale sign that a module is not aligned on the vehicle is a flashing odometer.

In a nutshell, there’s three steps to making any changes with alfaobd:
1- Unlock the security gateway
2- Make the changes with alfaobd
3- Perform the proxi alignment (alfaobd can’t do this)

Unfortunately, the dealership is going to be the most practical option for most people for getting the proxi alignment done. So, realistically, you should make an appointment with the dealership for that first, then install parts and make the alfaobd changes closer to your appointment date.

UNLOCKING THE SECURITY GATEWAY

Unlike the gateway on previous Rams and other vehicles, there is no way to physically bypass this gateway via wiring or bypass blocks. You have to unlock the gateway using a scan tool that is capable of FCA’s AutoAuth gateway unlock service. The scan tool doesn’t permanently unlock the gateway, it only unlocks it for the diagnostic session while the tool is connected to the vehicle. This means that to use alfaobd with the gateway unlocked, you need two devices plugged into the OBD port at the same time, so you’ll need an OBD splitter.

Things you’ll need to unlock the gateway:
1- OBD splitter- Amazon.com

2a- Set up an AutoAuth account- AutoAuth

2b- Buy an AutoAuth subscription ($50/yr). This is for a one year subscription to unlock the gateway on an unlimited amount of VINs an unlimited amount of times. You can register up to 5 scan tools to it.

3a- Xtool Anyscan A30M scan tool- Amazon.com

This is the cheapest tool that I’ve used that was able to keep the gateway unlocked while alfaobd is connected to the truck.
I can verify that Topdon Topscan can’t do it, and Launch X431 Elite can’t do it.
If you already own a scan tool that utilizes AutoAuth, I’ll leave a note at the end of this gateway unlock section on how to verify it is keeping the gateway unlocked while connected to alfaobd.

3b- Anyscan app for android or iPhone. This is the diagnostic app that interfaces with the Xtool.

3c- Register the Xtool serial number to your AutoAuth account so it’s ready to use for unlocking the gateway.
Can confirm an icon t7 works to keep SGW open. I have an MDP as well so I'm tying my best to swap my base IPC to the 12.3 and get gages working correctly in my 2500. If anyone has a proxy dump from their 2500 diesel rebel that would help me greatly for hex reference.

**EDIT** Was able to swap from the base IPC to the 12.3 full digital IPC seamlessly, it seems the ODO took the 0 miles that came on the new one from MOPAR though. I am new to AlphaOBD, is there a method to input the correct mileage? It is not blinking or anything, I just don't wanna get in trouble or anything for it being lower than last time i took it in for maintenance.

I got the pre-2025 LED tail lights installed and working the way they’re supposed to. So far, it seems that no alfaobd changes are needed, but I’ll give it a few drive cycles to make sure.
I had to use a 2 to 3 wire turn/brake lamp controller, and a pair of switchback modules to make the brake lights and turn signals function properly.

Jimmy, so when you swapped in the 19 to 24 LED tail lights that have the amber turn signal to your 25 model year, did you get the amber turn signals working? as you said somewhere else, the 2025 has 10 wires into the tail lamp, the 2024 and earlier has eleven wires in, the 11th being for the amber turn on those years. 12 wire pigtails are available for that tail light. Want the amber turns on a 2025 Model Year 1500..

Yes, I have the amber turn signals working correctly, and brake lights dropping out when turn signal is in use, exactly like they behave on a 2019-2024 Ram.

Hi Jimmy, thanks for the info. Quick question: I thought the Red brake lamps stayed on on the 2024MY and previous when the Amber turn signal was flashing?
In the clear sections of the 2-24 light, amber at top, reverse in the middle, and brake in the bottom clear section, correct?

Sounds like you’re referring to the 2019-2024 halogen tails.
For 2019-2024 LED tails, the red LED brake lights are on the same boards as the amber LED turn signals. So, when you activate a turn signal, the corresponding brake light drops out while the turn signal is flashing.

Alfa of required to retrofit LED. Headlights and tails: Check

But to confirm, those two specifically don’t need the proxy alignment? Or they do still?
Yes. Any changes you make with alfaobd to a 2025+ Ram needs a proxy alignment
