HOW TO: Add Digital Rearview Mirror

Idk if im allowed to post links here but check ebay for this "19-20 RAM OEM DIGITAL REAR VIEW MIRROR CAMERA DISPLAY INTEGRATION MODULE +CABLE". I believe this lets you skip out on needing to have that "extra" bcm.

Thank you man. I got it yesterday installed it and it’s working great

Pulled the trigger on the mirror with FCW when I saw it on marketplace for a fair price. Finally got the CMHSL so I decided to test it and make sure it worked. It does! Pretty sweet. My only concern/question is what is this sensor on my current mirror?? The digital rearview mirror doesn’t have it.

I'm pretty sure this sensor is for the automatic high beam function.

Well that’s pretty cool. I’ll have to see if it works!! Thanks!

Early in this thread they only list four digital rearview mirrors to for one camera and two with two camera with the only difference being whether you had fcw/acc or not. Are you aware if there are other mirror options that retain this sensor?

Well I think I found my answer from jimmy in 2022. Looks like I won’t have auto highbeams until I install the FCW module, which I won’t do until I replace the windshield

Here are the instructions for installing the digital rearview mirror in the RAM.

Part List:
Mirror with 1 Video Input Channel, no FCW or ACC - 68448639AB

Mirror with 1 Video Input Channel, with FCW or ACC - 68448641AB

Mirror with 2 Video Input Channel, no FCW or ACC - 68519111AA

Mirror with 2 Video Input Channel, with FCW or ACC - 68519222AA

Center high mounted stop lamp with camera - 68551077AB

10' Fakra Z - Female to Female
Amazon.com[/TD]

Parts if you have a 2019/2020:
2021+ BCM - 68496414AD
Wiring Harness from Jimmy07

You only need one of the mirrors. Just choose the one that fits your vehicle and if you want to have 2 inputs or not. You only need the 2 inputs if you plan on adding another camera like cargo, trailer, etc. For the 2019/2020 you will need a 2021+ BCM and the wiring harness from Jimmy07. You can get a used one from a junkyard. You can then stash this under the driver's side dash or the front seats.

Installation is fairly simple. Replace the CHMSL with the new one. Run the cable in the headliner from it to the mirror. Replace the mirror with the new one. Connect the mirror, truck and BCM using the wiring harness. Start the truck and enjoy your new mirror.

2019/2020s will lose auto dimming side mirrors. You can swap your BCM for a later new one (not used), but you would need the dealer to restore your configuration. If you swap it yourself, you'd need to do it at the dealer because it won't work right until the restore is done.

For 2021+, use AlfaOBD to set the following settings for auto dim mirrors to work.

LIN & Misc: CRVMM Present to NO

CBC Config I/O Usage: RVDM Present to YES
I just got a 2026 2500, withe surround camera, and cargo camera already in it. Can I just swap the mirror and activate it with alfaobd?

No, you can't use AlfaOBD on a 2025+ without a lot of extra work. And even then, you probably still can't do it.

If you get the one or two camera mirror it will swap in and work fine. No coding needed.

There will be silent codes in BCM in it but no major messages on cluster.

I can code the new 25+ trucks to fix all errors for all digital mirrors but at bare minimum you will need alfaobd + xtool A30m

If you get the 4 camera mirror coding will be needed.

If you get a mirror make sure you have the proper mounting bracket if not you will need to swap in mirror bracket from old one to make it work.

Update the problem was the wire and not the module, switch the wire and the mirror is working perfectly. Here the link for the module (no need for a new BCM ) Pardon Our Interruption...

Anyone looking to do retrofits with 19-22 BCM can reach out to me. I can update your BCM firmware to 24 so you will need no additional modules or anything for the digital rearview mirror, aux switches and any other newer retrofits.

Does this make your mirror dimmer function work? This module looks like one way so it only activates the mirror but doesn’t talk back to bcm to send the mirror dimming signals

Dimming works

Sweet, I do have a micro pod, so I guess I could technically code it myself but don’t need the 4 camera. What part number do I need for the two camera?

Single camera: 68594726AA

Dual camera: 68594723AA

There are different part numbers based on brackets and configurations but these are the ones i had used.

Before I bought the mirror and CHSML from a 2021 I picked up a mirror and chsml off a 2024 but it didn’t work in my 2020 I think because it’s v3.0 not v2.0. It’s a single camera. If you are interested in it or the chsml let me know. Mine is a HD though. Thanks

Hey all, I was browsing through the forum on here regarding upgrading to a digital rear view mirror. I have a 2020 Rebel. I have ACC, FCW, Lane assists, auto dim mirrors, and auto high beams. I was talking to a guy selling a kit and he said I would lose auto dim mirrors AND auto high beams. I thought the auto high beams worked off the same front camera as the ACC, lane assists and FCW..? If I do this install I don’t care about losing the mirror dimmer honestly but is this true I would lose the auto high beams? Is there anyway to get the auto high beams with the new digital mirror? I scanned the forum a little but couldn’t find a real answer… I thought my auto high beams run off the camera in the windshield not the mirror. I appreciate everyone’s time and knowledge. Thank you

He's wrong. You won't lose auto high beams. Your auto high beams run off the DASM camera. There is an option that has a camera mounted on the mirror and that one is only used for auto high beams.
