Well, my replacement that was covered under warranty cracked also.Mine is currently at the dealership getting the flowable sealant put on. I am nervous about what it is going to look like when it's done. Hopefully the tech is not messy with the stuff. I am hoping it works, but I feel that it is only a band aid and the issue will come back. If it doesn't solve the problem then I will probably go with replacing the window myself. Sucks that Stellantis went away from replacing the entire window.
Did your insurance cover the cost of the repair for a new window?
Yes they finally covered the cost almost 3 grand had to be done at body shop. My guy showed me the old window it’s so flimsy looking. Supposedly he put the upgraded one in, but we will see.Mine is currently at the dealership getting the flowable sealant put on. I am nervous about what it is going to look like when it's done. I know I'm very late to the party, but this happened with my 2019 Ram 1500 Limited. First one dealer claimed it was a seal around the break light, so they replaced the light and seal and the roof speaker that got ruined. Then when I brought it back they said they would replace the moonroof, but had to line up a glass company. They never did, despite me calling over and over. Another dealer told me it was the cracked rear window frame and it needed to be replaced. I was under the bumper to bumper and extended warranty, but somehow none of it was covered and it cost me like $2,000. I complained to FCS and they gave me like $40 for my troubles. (laughing emoji)Well it finally happened the rear window frame has cracked and leaking bad so i make an appointment with the dealer ( Merrick Ram,Jeep,Dodge on long island) that i bought the truck from new 2 years ago now has 21,000 miles and i have the 8 year 85,000 mile extended bumper to bumper platinum to boot. I first noticed the leak and sealed the rear brake light with electrical tape and still leaked bad then i taped the top edge of the glass and bingo no more leak and dried out the seat and carpet. the dealer calls me today and says the leak was the third brake light so i mentioned the window frame crack again and they made out like this is the first time they have heard of it ( i know of 5 people with the same truck and 3 had the rear window replaced and the other 2 have their fingers crossed). the service manager said the the plastic that is cracked is only a trim piece and replacing it would not be covered under warranty. so after some attitude i will pick the truck up tomorrow and take up the fight with FCA but i dont expect much because they never got back to me the last time. Ram cares are you on here ?
you got this. ya know what needs to be done. i suggest 2 tubes.Add me to the group with this issue. I needed a new license plate and was issued a temp one for the back window. 2 weeks ago it was perfectly dry, got the plate yesterday, so went to remove the paper temporary one and it was soaked. It’s a 2022 that’s out of warranty so I’ll be putting the permatex fix on it as soon as possible before I have other issues
Oh no we're sorry to hear of your experience. Feel free to send our team a private message for assistance.Yes this water leak is a huge pain in the ***. 2021 Ram 3500 Laramie. Had it fixed in 24 rear window frame leaked and so did the 3rd brake light, dealership replaced headliner, carpet, rear seat and did mold control cause it was everywhere in the truck. Fast forward to Monday this week and the same damn leak is back. If Ram really cared they would get this issue controlled an get the extended warranty on all Ram models not just the 1500's when its a well known issue.
