Window tint

Thanks, now I don't feel so bad!
Yeah a couple of quick over the phone quotes were lower but I went into the place today (the $650 place) and even though it’s just him and his wife doing it, he’s been around for a while and his quality was real nice, and this is probably one of those “get what you pay for” things so my wife and I agreed to pay a little extra.

I went with 35% in the front, matches if you don't look too hard. To match close to perfect, you need 15%, but for me that's too dark for driving at night and will likely get you a ticket eventually.

I went with 35% 3M Color Stable instead of ceramic, it has a lifetime warranty against fading and turning purple, has good heat rejection. $150 out the door, I paid a little more than some shops because this shop is highly rated and doesn't remove door panels to tint.

$200 or so will get you 3M Ceramic, which will have an even higher heat rejection for the front windows.
Any chance you have any pictures? I am thinking of doing the same thing. Deciding between 23% and 35%. Thanks!

Sure, hopefully you can see it clear enough here. It's close enough for me in matching the back windows, especially with zero issues with visibility at night. I have another vehicle with 15% or 20% and I find it too dangerous to drive at night.

I’m in Oklahoma and my early 30’s. I’ll never buy tint that isn’t 5% all around except windshield. No other % keeps the heat and light out good enough for me. When I have the spare $ saved up, my 23 will be getting 5% all around with at the lightest 20% windshield.

Does anybody have any issues tinting the back window? I'm a bit worried about the defroster lines...
I had my back window tinted, defroster never had any problems. Going to have the new truck done as well, my only issue is that the cost has almost doubled since I had it done in 2020

Thanks, good to know! Did it affect how you could see out the back with the rear view mirror? How dark is your tint?

No, I could see fine but I didn't go stupid dark. 80% on the windshield and 35% on the rear and passenger sides and 30% on the front sides. I don't get the people that do 25% or less, driving at night becomes a problem. I had that on my Z28 ion the 2000's, I had to roll down the window at night sometimes to see before making a turn.

So i just did a google, Texas requires 25% or more light passage through the front windows. I'm going to get mine tinted to try and match the factory tint of the rear windows. Just a matter of scheduling to be honest. Cost is about 200 and that isn't bad.

That's about what I paid including the windshield and pano for IR/UV Ceramic
Where did you get yours tinted, if you don’t mind me asking. I live in North Garland, have a 24 Laramie that I am looking to have tinted. Thank you!

TriTek in Garland but I'm going to Pro Tint in Plano this time, they gave me a quote about $200 lower.
Tint prices have gone crazy, windshield, both panos, side and rear glass:
TintTek in Garland $1200
TriTek in Garland $1448 or $1400 cash
ProTint Plano, $1100

This is all for ceramic with 89 or 99% it rejection; all the film was the same from all 3, formula 1 or CTX.

TriTek did the same work to my limited in 2020 for $700. Looking at i thought all the prices were high but in looking through Reddit tint sub forums, $1000-1400 is what the average price is for high quality tint in the Dallas area.

Be cautious of $4-500 tint jobs, they are likely using dyed film which has no ir/uv protection and fades over time

Damn, feel pretty good getting my truck done in 2020 for $300. 35% full windshield, 20% on every other piece of glass, including sunroof, using 3m film.

Thanks for the info. I was looking at TriTek or Alt Mere in Plano.

I made an appointment today with ProTint in Plano. Depending on what you need, the sides and rear glass are $545 using Llumar IRX ceramic.
Windshield $315 and pano $225. (Prices include tax) This is the best price I've found in the area by $2-300 using high quality tint

Just got mine done at turbo tint. Front, back, rear, and windshield with the Red Line package. llamar film. Dual layer nano ceramic tint. 30% front 50% rear on top of the privacy glass should bring it to around 13%. Then the windshield at 80%. All done for under 800 with a 25 buck tip included.
