What did you do to your Ram today???

Passed the contractors licensing exam in Visalia. Heard the biggest tree on earth (diameter) was like an hour from the testing center. Probably took more pictures of my truck than the tree. Herman did not disappoint. Takes like 45 minutes to get up this windy road up to 6500ft, which you think would suck, but between the view and the smooth ride it was really an incredible drive. Up and down.

Is this still worth doing? I thought people were saying that it wasn't a good idea. Something about valves being not lubricated. I was going to do it but I took it off my list
Valves not being lubricated? That is a new one, I know of no manufacturer who would rely on crankcase fumes to lubricate intake valve seats.

I also don't think catch cans are necessary to keep the intake clean. I agree they do keep the intake cleaner, just not necessary.

Some claim catch cans may result in failing smog (visual inspection) as it is technically a modification of an emissions control (PCV valve hose). I have not seen proof of a fail though it is a mod. It is also sealed and even CA smog allows for oil separators without an EO number, at least in theory... But then some company went and got an EO number for an oil separator so now some techs may think only an EO part can be used. IMO, the main thing to have everything work right is to keep the installed hose lengths close to the OEM lengths. And for those subject to visual inspections, keep the OEM parts in case they are needed to pass smog.

What a catch can is good for is a way to monitor engine blowby over the long term. By checking the accumulated gunk at each oil change (assuming consistent time and miles), a catch can may serve to alert an owner of increasing wear primarily in rings and possibly valve stems.

They also look neat.

Anyone saying that is an idiot and should not be listened to about anything automotive.
I'm almost sure I heard that here. This is the only forum/group I visit and I'm sure I didn't hear it on my knife and flashlight forums. 🤪

It makes sense and I'm not anti-catch can. I wish I could remember where I heard it from.
I've got stuff for about 15 mods waiting for installation so its possible I heard what I wanted in order to have less to do.
It's pretty unlikely though so now I'm going to obsess over where I did hear it from now.

I took my pavement princess into this to go ride dirt bikes.... But I forgot my helmet so camping sufficed for the weekend. I drove over 600 miles round trip to feel an inch tall this morning after realizing I put it in a spot to load it.

Could be possibly that you misunderstood what was said. If anything it would help with valve as there would be less build.up on them to allow the oil and fuel to do it's job

Wait, you drove 600 miles to ride a dirt bike, and didn't because you forgot a helmet?? Didn't you have any duct tape?, a pool noodle? A Walmart bag?

Yea in Montana it's optional to value your brain. No helmets required. I personally never ride without full PPE. It's even crazier with the amount of bugs that people don't wear helmets. I guess it's how they get their protein?

That's 100% true! LoL Also 100% true chemo and radiation doesn't make you any smarter.
I'm still looking into it because I have a hard time believing my brain just accepted it as fact without any friction.
I doubt everything and its worked well so far. Its kept me from making a fool of myself but that maybe changing in real time 🤪

I'm not gonna lie I enlarged the pictures to see what you got. Couldn't read the numbers very well and 116847 didn't get me anything. What did you get? 🤪
Floor and wall cabinets to match the toolbox I bought recently. Went and picked the tall cabinet that was piece number 5 today. Finally getting my garage put back together after painting and having the floor redone.

Post some before and after pics I can appreciate a well done garage restoration!

Don’t have any good pics of empty garage before, but the one with the bike should give an idea. Couple of relative empties after the floor was done, then a couple quick shot after I put some of the new cabinets in. Still need to get the new wall cabinets in, then I can actually get everything organized and put away.
