Hey there , checking to see if anyone had trouble with their ram 2022 e-torque hemi taking of on them when their foot is on the brake after stopping…

First thing I’d check is make sure the floor mat didn’t bunch up on you or something like that.
Otherwise, I’d hit the dealer if still under warranty. That’d scare the bejesus out of me…I’d be standing on the brake pedal while fumbling with the shifter knob.
Hear ya on no time to think, hopefully you’re ok and no damage to anything.

Closest I’ve had is have it shut off…sitting there, then restart because most likely the cabin temp dropped. I felt a tiny surge..but nothing like you’re describing.

Thank you just trying to see if anyone else had this issue …mats were not the issue , it caused me to have a bad accident but I am ok thankfully …happened so fast, just trying to see if anyone had this issue at all or taking off when foot on brake ..thank you

Baywinds, I’m wondering if there’s a software update available?
I’m just north of 22K on my 23 with eTorque. So far, zero issues.
I do feel the regenerative braking…it’s even more evident when driving one of our other vehicles, I have to use more brake to come to a stop.
My S/S has been trouble free, once in a while annoying if in a drive through line, parking garage, or stop and go traffic.
I simply disable it for that.
Out of any car I’ve driven, owned, etc., this is by far the smoothest S/S system I’ve ever driven.
None of that, comforts you or gives you answers, I get that as well.

Again, glad nobody got hurt. I see that other thread Paul linked to was 2021…and kept on going over the past few years.
Frustrating not to have answers, I hope you find yours.

The Etorque motor is only 30 HP, and isn't going to make the truck run away. It works, just to help the wheels start turning, on take offs. Sounds more like computer, or other electronic parts.

Mine had a similar issue: the engine would shut off while I was rolling into a parking spot or driveway, start, and surge forward. As far as I can tell, the 2022 model had a software change, and the engine would shut off around three mph or so while rolling to a stop. When I was parking and slowly rolling in, the engine would shut off at that three mph and my foot would be feathering the brake. With the slightest lift of the brake, the engine would start up, and the truck would surge ahead..sometimes quite significantly. There was a software update in 2022 that very much improved the issue. That update along with learning how to avoid it has helped, but it still gets me sometimes. Honestly, I wish I never had the Etorque engine in my truck. I have been looking for a good used alternative.

thanks for all the posts on this issue, I have a 2021 rebel no e-torque and in the last two weeks this has happened twice, last time was this morning. As someone posted very scary. Did the same, put all my weight on the brake and threw it in neutral. Just had the truck serviced last week at 30K and nothing was found. Sounds like no one has an answer yet.
I have had this happen several times on my old Ford F150 and on the RAM. In all cases it was caused by my inadvertently fat footing the brake and gas pedals. It really did not feel like I was applying throttle but on close inspection, yes, the heel of my foot was touching the gas pedal. It is very disturbing but avoidable.

Edit: It's actually not the heel but the toe. I checked today and if you are wearing a boot and only put the left half of it on the brake pedal the right upper half of the boot can contact the gas pedal.
