Lockable Gas Cap?

Theres not a lot of siphoning of gas going on. You can't get a large enough tube into the tank to really work. Electric pump, maybe. But most stealing gas just drill the tank.
How often is that happening though? It's not happening where I live.

Not very often, but there have been reported cases in the Omaha metro area. More likely to have your catalytic converter cut off though

and apparently, for the new 2022 model, my dealer told me that there is no lockable gas cap available.

I just checked my 2021 Ram 1500 DT Big Horn and with the doors locked my gas flap still opens. I'm not worried about someone stealing gas at my house because I live in
a secluded location, but with gas prices now high you never know when your out and park it someplace. More likely to get the "cats" cut off than gas stolen.
I've got a 2002 Ford Escape we bought used a couple years ago and found out if you have a dead battery you can't unlock the door with a key because the key mechanism is an electrical switch that activates a solenoid that unlocks the door. I put in a wire to the battery with a terminal outside the front grill just in case.

Hello,
I read a lot about the Fueldoor and if it would lock with locking the car or not. I find out some strange infos. First of all the Fueltank should be sealed with something like a fuelcap or anything to srew in. Because there is something about some elektricalsystems which testing the fueltank for leaking or pressure and these would make some trouble codes.
Otherwise the was the cap from geno`s which shouldn`t seal the fueltank in the way.
I found out, in my 2019 Ram 5th gen. I have a Locker behind the plastik. I looks like the Alfa Romeo`s, that have lockable Fueldoors in Europe. But there is the conector missing. Do anybody have some conector infos to get it in use?

Gotcha, though I didn't mean the funnel is an anti-theft device, only that you need it to pour in fuel due to the double door system in the neck. Your regular short funnel or the fuel can nozzle wouldn't work.

With these capless systems, you still cannot steal fuel from the neck with just a regular hose like you can with traditional capped systems.

Yeah, you think RAM would lock your freaking gas door like 99% of other vehicles on the road. Our new Toyota and our old Lexus and Crossfire all have that feature. It wasn't until someone on this forum mentioned it didn't lock did I go out and confirm it. I just assume it was a common feature.
Holy Cwap - I just checked my '24 Limited. Guess I just figured the fuel door would lock with the door locks. Nope ! **** Poor design in my opinion !!

Is that really something you would want with the electric gremlins that pop up on newer vehicles these days? I sure wouldn’t want to find out my fuel door won’t open when my tank is near empty.😲

Been driving for over 40 years and never had a locking fuel door or even cap. Heck in the old days the fuel filler was behind the license plate. These days that would really confuse people.😆

Why is it a poor design? What are your concerns about not having a locking fuel door?
