Does anyone have any recommendations for a scan tool that can clear codes behind the Security Gateway Module (SGW)? I've been looking at the Autel MaxiCOM MK808BT Pro. Their website states the following, however I'm trying to confirm if it can actual CLEAR codes behind the gateway or just read them.
  • FCA AutoAuth Compatibility: Certified by FCA, the MK808BT Pro can access the Secure Gateway Module on 2017 and newer FCA vehicles (Fiat, Chrysler, JEEP, Dodge) for enhanced diagnostics and service.

FCA AutoAuth is a ( pay service) that allows technicians to use aftermarket diagnostic tools to access and perform secured functions on FCA vehicles (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) that are protected by a Security Gateway Module (SGW).

    • Why is AutoAuth needed?
The SGW restricts aftermarket diagnostic tools from performing certain tasks, like bi-directional testing, DTC clearing, and calibrations. AutoAuth provides a way for authorized technicians to access and unlock the SGW for necessary diagnostics and services.

You don’t need to use the autoauth subscription for unlocking the gateway to do bidirectional (clear codes, etc). You can use a bypass cable, like the one linked below, to bypass the gateway all together.

You don't need to buy an expensive scantool that can only read/clear codes.

Invest in JScan and/or AlfaOBD and you can modify BCM settings and code key FOBs as well (JScan).

A bypass cable, an OBD reader and either the reader's software or one of the above, or any number of phone/tablet/PC based OBD tools can clear codes. I use Torque Pro often but licensed it so I can setup gauges on a tablet.
