I had this on my 1998 Dakota. It always looked like it was sandblasted while driving. I have ceramic coating on my truck now and it still looks great and it's a 2020.Has anyone here had this kind of wear on their paint on such a new truck? Looks like I'll have to cover this out of my own pocket. Not sure why this would happen after only 5 years and regular washing.

No auto washes, south FL sun and 60k miles. Everything else on the truck looks great except this one spot on the roof unfortunately.@hayden536 - Do you take it through automatic washes?
I have 2020 that still looks great.
I am second owner bought Dec 2020 with 18k and now have 48k miles. I only hand wash - Never automatic wash. I also use Meguires Ultimate wax 2x/year. I'm in FL sun and do best to keep covered/shade when possible... but it gets more than average UV.
Glad your truck is still looking good! Guess I'll have to get this spot repainted.I had this on my 1998 Dakota. It always looked like it was sandblasted while driving. I have ceramic coating on my truck now and it still looks great and it's a 2020.
Wow. Sorry to hear of your issue. Thanks for confirming sun exposure and wash similar to mine... I'll watch my vehicle closer to see if this develops. No auto washes, south FL sun and 60k miles. Everything else on the truck looks great except this one spot on the roof unfortunately.

I can turn a wrench but have never done any paint work, is this as easy as it sounds, or should I take it to a body shop?UV light has eaten the clear coat from that area which was probably thin to begin with. Since its the roof, I'd lightly wet sand it with 800 then 1500 then spray some automotive clear on it feathering the perimeter then wet sand it again with 1500 then polish

Thanks so much man I'm down in South Florida, bit far from Texas but I may have to give it a go.I worked at a body shop through college so to me, its releativley easy. I'm not saying you need to try to achieve a showcar repair, just knock the loose clear coat off then mask the area and apply some automive clear then buff to blend.
If your altrnative is a body shop then you attemting to repair it will not do anything the body shop could not undo if you chose them to repair which is the primary reason I'd try.
