Yeah, I was able to get a seat at the window and was working while I waited and my truck happened to be in the bay closest to me so I was able to watch everything.
Well, I was sitting at the counter watching them work and everything went fine with removing the stock wheels and such. Then I notice they throw my old rim on the tire change machine and start mounting the new tires on the old rims with my new rims still sitting in the bed of my truck...
After dealing with some issues at discount tires my wheels and tires are now installed! Setup is as follows: fuel rebel rims 20x9 with 1 offset. Toyo AT3 tires 305/55/20.

Ordered some 33x12.5x20 toyo AT 3's for the rims I purchased a week ago. Should get everything installed next week. Photo below was what made my mind up for tires choice and reading many reviews.
When I did the 5100's on my off road package truck the cheap little rental spring compressors were bending pretty badly. I remember not wanting to even touch the entire assembly in fear of one snapping and kill me or my buddy.
Just finding someone with the same wheel that doesn't have issues would cover you. Like you said it would suck if you order all this and have them installed to find they don't fit properly.
No, your tire size is fine if you want an 18x9 rim. I am only concerned on your tire with for the appearance of where the align with your fender. I think you could go with any rim between a -12 and -20mm offset to achieve the look you want.
FYI make sure the fitment of whatever rims you get...
This one gives you a good idea what a -12 offset with a 9" wide rim and 12.5" wide tire will look like with fender flares. You can adjust based on preference and look for more examples. Your new tire size is like a 10.75" width so theyll sit further inside the fender than the example below...
First update for me in a long while. This weekend I picked up a set of 20x9 1mm offset fuel rebels for under $1,000. Couldn't pass the deal up and looking for tires now.
Does your truck have fender flares or no? If it does not (like a bighorn) a 20x10 wheel with 0 offset and 11.5inch tires aligns pretty flush with the fenders. Best place to look is at websites like customoffsets to see other peoples setups to get an idea of what rim size, offset and tie size...
Definitely want this looked at on my truck. Every time I go through a specific yield intersection my truck would stall out and die and flash a bunch of lights. If I turned off the auto start stop function and went through the same intersection it wouldn’t happen.
Mine ended up being unused bolt holes under the seat as mentioned. I removed the plastic and unbolted the seats and filled the holes with a two part epoxy.
