I like to tell people on the trailer weight to use the GVW of the trailer for figuring numbers. That will give you a good number to work with, and the heaviest weight you may encounter. Trailer manufacturers in the brochures like to use a very stripped out trailer to entice people.
Trailer brakes are not for stopping the truck. You are doing this because the trailer is waggin the truck. An appropriate size truck will not have this problem.

I am curious as to why you say this. If in fact the sticker is correct for the lower number, either the truck has lost that additional weight since the factory weighed it, or if correct, the GVWR would be a lower weight corresponding to the payload number.

If you go to the Husky manual, they have the calculations in the front of the manual. Measure the top of the trailer coupler socket (with it level), then subtract 8", that will give you the height of where the bottom bolt of the ball...
Couple of things you can do. Look up the specs on both trucks and see what the height difference is. Also, do you have the same size wheel. Looking at those will at least give you an idea of the amount of drop you may need. Buy a drop hitch that can do what you figured, and maybe an inch or two...
I have a new '19 3500 with the auto tilt, and agree they seem to just tilt to the max they can. Useless for me. I turned them off, and since I have the memory for two drivers, I use one for normal, and second for backing up. Wish the original memory would remember where I adjusted the mirror in...
