On the highway is where openpilot really shines. however; it will work on any road as long as you are going faster than 31 MPH. I live 1.5 miles from work, so I don't use it every day, but when I get on the highway, I never drive more than a mile before I realize the truck would be driving...
You are correct! The software isn't quite officially community supported yet so you will have to install our RAM fork on your C2 to make it work, and the Harness is super easy to build. The best way to keep up with updates is from the discord from discord.comma.ai to accept the invitation. We...
Well fudge, I'm not sure why they are working like that... don't worry I didn't do 90% of the programing! Haha. Manufacturers part numbers: CAMERA SIDE: 3-2098269-1 (female housing) 2035170-1 (crimp terminal, 4 required) Also lets see if I can successfully link a web page...
the main hardware you buy from comma.ai (https://comma.ai/shop/products/comma-two-devkit) and you will buy the comma 2 and the development car harness (no connectors). https://onedrive.live.com/?authkey=...!150819&parId=9F326E228C8C4419!150787&o=OneUp from that document you will need to buy the...
I bought my truck in January and found Comma in February and bought the C2 on a whim hoping to find help porting the truck. And I got a TON of help from the online community. And yes it will be quite some time before it is "officially" community supported. We still haven't touched Longitudinal...
So I called my insurance and they said it would not be an issue. They said they would treat it like a Tesla with autopilot. I told them I would be the first one with the self driving system on a RAM and they were fine with it.
Thats really interesting! I wonder how much that would cost? With FSD in a tesla costing $10k one could maybe justify the cost of retrofitting LaneSense/ACC. Also self driving truck > self driving car
In theory it is something that could be done. What I don't know is if it is a module on the EPS (electric power steering) that accepts steer commands or if it would require change in the code in the firmware of the EPS to allow external steering commands. But it would be something not easy to to.
Level 3 self driving is where manufacture takes responsibility. You are to keep your eyes on the road amd be ready to take over at any time. You are responsible for anything that happens. Insurance can get f'ed if you think they'll have a problem with it then remove it before the adjuster comes...
