To let you know that the cable is in a sleeve. You can’t just apply grease to it. Unless you have a small needle and inject grease that way or cut the cable sleeve off in certain sections to apply it. Basically like I said in my last post. It is easier to just replace the cable with a new one...
Some update. I received the new cable, installed it and so far it’s been around 14 or so degrees. The door has not froze. I kept the old cable and left it outside. It look like it did shrink, and the cable at first pull was hard to pull. After that it did loosen up. But far so with the new...
Man I wish I have seen your post sooner. Maybe it is the cable and the one in there right now has moisture in it. Just this time, it seems like the latch was binding. I wish I disconnected the cable on both ends first. So 30 bucks to replace the cable. Risk breaking tabs again for one last go.

Add me to the list. First time experiencing this. I use to live in California and got orders to Nebraska. And of course I come when it was -11 degrees. Got to my new location and the passenger rear door was hard to open. A good pull and the door open, but will not latch. I did was everyone...
I got my recall letter in. Haven't done it yet and my California registration is due. I said screw the recall for now and the DMV still renew my registration. This recall better not nerf my trucks power.
