Soot build up is super common on diesels because of the DEF system for emissions compliance. It sucks and is basically guaranteed to go out at some point, at work just the in last year we had 3 go out, 1 on our ram 5500 cummins, 1 on a peterbuilt with a cummins, and our bobcat s770 with a kubota...
Just hit 180k on my 2020 longhorn, still getting 19 city and 23 highway with 34" tires and the 2" mopar lift. Starting to get the normal high milage problems. Just had to replace the intake manifold at 170k. Check engine light keeps coming on but then it regens and it goes away. This truck seems...
Mostly just a lot of freeway driving between Los Angeles County and Riverside County. But no towing for work, just taking my boat to Lake Havasu on the weekends in the summer.
I think the intercooler tube leaks are pretty minor, its just soot and crap from the EGR but when i take it all apart...
gotcha, not a mechanic so i dont have the big metric sizes. I just used what i had laying around and 1 1/8" was close enough for me. Not gunna buy a whole new set for a single socket that ill use once or twice a year.
What makes you want a diesel for so little driving? You're paying extra upfront for the diesel engine, more expensive oil changes, fuel filters, DEF, and diesels are just in general more expensive to fix when they break. And yes, the ecodiesel does like to be driven a lot because of the DEF, if...
2020 1500 longhorn ecodiesel
103k miles
Oil change every 10k
Trans every 50k
Transfer case/diffs every 30k
Walmart brand DEF
So far so good. Couple problems and recalls but most had been covered under warranty.
Only thing that wasnt was some DEF system sensor that was like $800 i think around...
Been a while since a posted, truck is at 96k miles now. The truck has been great until this morning.
Looks like the fox front shock broke/pulled out. I don't really wheel my trucks, the only dirt this truck sees is on job sites. Went over a bump while turning and heard a loud clank.
Dealer...
even at $6.20/gallon here in SoCal is still cheaper than gas because the Hemi calls for 89... I just try not to look, I sure as heck don't drive a truck to save money. I just like being able to go 600+ miles on a tank of gas, granted its almost $200/tank now
Maybe get one of those back seat covers for dogs on Amazon. If they spill chocolate milk or something you’re never going to get it out of the perforated leather.
Oof, my last truck was also a 15’ Sierra 1500. Nice truck but the ac went out at 50k, power steering motor at 75 and torque converted blew up and took the trans with it at 108k. None of it was covered under warranty. The trans was $4500 to fix so I just limped it to Carmax and sold it to them.
you gotta remember that most people that are happy with their truck don’t hang out on forums and post about how reliable it is. Most people on here are looking for custom mods or because the truck broke down
look up your favorite company on the BBB website and i guanantee is has a 1 or 2 star...
