shifter should work, you just have to configure the BCM correctly. and this is where you really need a factory truck config to copy the settings from. you can try to guess at them and you might get lucky, but its tricky. assuming its wired correctly you for sure need to configure the...

you need to read codes with jscan or alfaobd, all modules to see what isn't happy. you can't go by the warning lights on the dashboard to tell you what is incorrect. did you change "shifter type" in the BCM vehicle settings?
