There must be something about the battery blanket that the rats are attracted to. I recently found chewing signs in my garage, around the garage door gasket, and at the bottom of a loose fitting door frame. Once I saw a rat turd, I knew what had happened, and opened my hood. Battery blanket...
2021 Laramie 5.7. I keep my display set to monitor all those engine and trans temperatures. Towing a trailer in very hot weather, my trans oil temp will sometimes get just above 200f. But mostly runs around 195f. In cooler weather, it runs down around 180f. Give or take a few degrees.
Here in California the pump nozzles have an electrical cut-off switch that demands the vapor cover be fitted completely over the receptacle. This is the thing that most often causes me trouble in filling the tank. I travel all over pulling an RV, so I see a lot of various gas station pumps and...
Just for comparison, I've got a 2021 Laramie. 5.7 liter, 3.92 rear end. 13,500 miles. Everything in the truck stock oem. Last night, drove me and the wife from Menifee, CA to LAX to pick up my daughter and husband, plus lots of luggage in the bed. Drove the same freeway route back home...
All my life of using cars, trucks and motorcycles, I've "known" that idling for "too long" is not particularly good for a motor. For various reasons, depending on engine design. I use this 2021 Laramie mostly to pull a 7k lb rv trailer. I even fret over the idling time required in hooking up...
2021 1500 4x4 5.7 here, just passing 10k miles. I've been using premium all summer. I feel like it matters most in the hot weather. Plus, most of my use of the truck is to pull a 7k RV. I don't really keep an eye on mileage, but when pulling the trailer, and burning premium, I average right...
99% of what I use my 2021 Laramie for is towing a 7k lb travel trailer. I've towed in heat above 100f several times this summer. I keep an eye on temp readouts. The trans temp readout is always well below 200f, but on hottest days at high speeds it will creep up above 190f. Once I slow down...
Pulling our 5000 lb trailer, I find that often the trans will stay in 6th or 7th for long stretches, even running on fairly "level" surface, or what seems like level... it can be hard to tell that you're climbing. It will find 8th, but doesn't need to be in high gear. I am not concerned about...
My first filter change was rough. The first usually is, but this was unusually difficult. Made more difficult by the 4x4 equipment in the way. Would have been easier by far if a 4x2. My truck was built only a month before I did the first oil change. So it isn't like it had been sitting for...
We use our 2021 Ram 1500 to tow a 5000 lb Airstream. I love the tow/haul mode. Last month, we rode the coast highway from LA to where it ends in northern CA. This is hundreds of miles of twisty roads, up and down hills. That's where the tow/haul really shines. If you need some engine brake...
I have not experienced this on my truck, but I am subscribed to your thread and interested in what the shop finds out.
I have had a handful of assorted other "glitches" apparently software-related, and temporary, show up since the truck was new. I've learned to give the truck some time to sort...
I just passed 8k miles with my 2021 Laramie that has the 8 speed trans. Not a problem. I only use this truck for towing a 5k lb Airstream travel trailer, so it is used towards the heavy side at all times.
I had a trans fail in a 2007 Ford F150 at 25k miles. Other than that, like the OP, I've...
Mine makes a few noises upon cold start-up. Once the motor and trans are up to temperature, it is nice and smooth. I've learned not to worry much about cold start noises. Pretty much any noise that consistently goes away as the engine heats up, is either "normal" or at least "not abnormal."...
Mine does it, too. 2021 1500 5.7 with just over 5k on it. Used mostly for trailering an RV. While on its first trip away from home last month, the transmission "glitched" twice at two different times and days, by failing to shift up from 1st while accelerating from a stop. Both times I...
