My 2019 had this issue and I ended up with a new steering rack under warranty . The dealership has replaced a number of the them - seems to be a known issue. Jim

I like them on my 2019. Good this past winter in the snow and quiet on the highway. The only downside I have found is they “hunt” a bit on grooved pavement. Mine were from Costco. Jim

After going through the loop, the end doubles back and hooks in a link on the same chain. These are used a lot, but I have not seen one used for a safety chain before. Jim

Using the great informations in this tread, I successfully updated my 2019 from LR-34.31 to 39.7 and then to 40.1. Took a couple of tries to find an USB that the truck liked, it ended up being an older 4 gig USB. For some reason, I could not get 39.9 to load from 34.31 but 39.7 worked and then...

I had the steering gear replaced under warranty as the truck would “fall” into a turn at highway speed. The fix was the new gear and it solved the issue. There was a thread about this on this site. Jim

No there is always a slight smell. It appears to be a value- added feature of the model ;-)

I had a BakFlip do the same thing, water leaked into it and it rotted. It turned into junk. The company would not do anything about it for me. Jim
