On my 3rd Laramie 5.7 1500 4wd. 321, now with 18,000mi, and to my surprise the computer indicates 21.1 overall mostly highway since new. I carry about 600 pounds of equipment too.
I know guys say the computer reads maybe 1 mpg high, but still.
24 Hemi in a Laramie, computer says my avg mpg over 18,000 mi is 21.1. Its my 3rd hemi and the mpg surprised me. Pretty good for a 5,000 pound 4wd truck. I know some say a hand calc is often 1mpg or so lower, but even still.
I just read online where a late model ram owner with no mgu trouble yet, bought a new mgu for $900. He said he likes access to spare parts, especially ones that can ground your truck for 4 months. Plus you can always resell it later. Some on ebay asking $2000.

Mine is a 24, and I got the quirky error code 5 after a failed attempt of a Ram attempted auto update over the air.
Programmer has to be dumb as a bag of hammers.
If you can't buy an mgu, the price doesn't matter much, however two dozen mopar dealers are listing them for sale at just over $900 plus a core charge, though none are in stock. Don't know how they get $3900 but it really doesn't matter.
Little to no chance in the Us. All dealers backordered. Three months is typical.
There is a post on this forum with the bearing part number and step by step replacement process. Probably should only be undertaken by a skilled mechanic.
Going this route with the right skills, you could get...
The Ram warranty pays dealers the same for warranty work, no matter where you boight it.
Ive gotten loaners 4 times from my local dealer even though I haven't bought there.
Local dealer claimed he'd lose $3k if he matched the Mark price. While i never believed that, I bought from Mark...
