I agree 100% that RAM manufacturing it's own electric locking Diff. is VERY unlikely. The information that Eaton gave me was exactly 180 degrees out from what I expected. I was surprised to be told that the clutch type LSD was an Eaton. Even more surprised to be told that the E-Locker was not...
As said earlier, Marketing Strategy.
Examples of many:
What in the world is the relationship between a convenience group and a 33 gallon fuel tank?
I certainly cannot see what an increased fuel capacity has to do with the features listed in the convenience groups.
However, try to add the...
I think it is a marketing strategy. Your choice of level 2 Equipt. Pkg. and the Night Edition seem to be the fly in the ointment. When you choose the 33 Gal. tank it makes you opt for an equipment package. If you choose level one it will allow what you want. Damned if I can figure out the...
I have a soft roll up cover. I needed full access for taller items in the bed on occasion. It has had Ice, crusted snow on it. Been in plenty of rain storms. Not a drop in the bed and the cover is holding up so far. Has seen plenty of heat and sun as well. It is rolled down covering the...
I understand completely. No argument on your point. However, I would expect the exact same truck in a Gen. 5 to do as well in MPG. Better even with the e-torque which is claimed to improve fuel mileage.
Is there something with the 5th Gen. I am not aware of? ( Honest question, not being...
Please post what you find out. I had a discussion with Eaton on the phone. I was told that the E-locker in the Ram is not an Eaton product as many of us believe. Also stated that the clutch type LSD in the Ram was an Eaton product.
Curious if you get a similar answer or perhaps find another...
I know this post is late to the game. I posted this information yesterday however I cannot seem to locate the post.
I had a conversation with Eaton on the phone. Person I spoke with was adamant that the electronically activated locker being used in the 2019 -2020 Ram is NOT an Eaton product...
Thought I would share a conversation I had on the phone today with Eaton technical support.
Gentleman that I spoke with seemed very knowledgeable.
1. He states that the electric locker in the 2019 Gen. 5 Ram is NOT an Eaton product. I pressured him pretty hard on this and he was adamant that it...
I'll take a risk and put my neck on the chopping block. I am sure I am the odd man out on this.
No-one can really make the decision for you. They are not you and don't share your exact driving needs or habits.
Sooooo, I will simply give my honest experience.
I drive a stock 2017 Laramie crew...
Bummer! Don't blame you guys for being upset. I purchased a 2017 Laramie that I only have one regret about. That being I failed to get the Ram box. Joined up here because I am planning to get a 2020 with the Ram box. Maybe not I guess. My experience with the 5'7" bed without the Ram box...
Have used these valves for years on everything from a motorhome to the little ladies Prius. . Wouldn't be without one on any vehicle I do an oil change on. Did many oil changes in a WalMart parking lot while traveling. Less than 20 minutes to do the oil and filter. Great device.
