I would not trust the exact July date presented by a poster as "authoritative". Who knows who at IIHS wrote the email? What are their credentials and title? Did they mistype the date? etc.
Without an official statement from Ram of IIHS, all we know is the IIHS test data applies to trucks built...
"The lighter side is that the difference between the best brand (Lexus) and the worst (Fiat) was just an average of around one and a half trips to the dealer over the span of three years. That means that the gap between, say, Chevrolet and Dodge — 1.15 vs 1.78 — isn’t really all that large."
I guess you could call it build quality. quoting the IIHS Crash Test:
"Beginning with 2019 models built after July 2018, the cab mounts to the vehicle frame at the C-pillars were strengthened to improve occupant protection in small overlap frontal crashes. (Information about when a specific...
One data point does not make a trend...However
I had my truck in last week. The engine, transmission, and etorque controller were updated (like many others on this forum). Over the weekend the mileage seemed a good bit better than usual. It was just misc driving and pulling the boat so I had no...
Quoting from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety 2019 RAM Crash Test::
"The Ram 1500 Crew Cab was redesigned for the 2019 model year. Beginning with 2019 models built after July 2018, the cab mounts to the vehicle frame at the C-pillars were strengthened to improve occupant protection in...
I concur. How etorque is implemented is very clever. The idea of working to exploit "wasted" energy from an internal combustion is interesting. I look forward to how this evolves over time.
So far, at least for me, the improvement in MPG does not appear to be that substantial.
I read where...
Thanks, I respect you and your opinion.
Our opinions differ and that is OK.
Hopefully we have given folks some interesting reading/viewing (fair point that I linked to Brian's video more than needed) to form their own opinions on.
Please enjoy your evening and thanks for the spirited discussion.
"Watch the video with Nick Cappa, I personally believe he does the best job at explaining the new features of the truck, and how eTorque works.
Check your sources.
Do you realize Nick Cappa is RAM Trucks Media Relations? Google him! He is a media guy with a degree in Business Administration...
No worries Ricnick. Honorable people can have a difference of opinion, I sincerely apologize if any of my arguing my position can be interpreted as criticism of you as a person. That was not my intent.
I have a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering and I too dislike seeing misinformation...
Please do a google search on the engineer in the video you say you do not believe and mispoke.
google "Brian Spohn + etorque"
Please read his credentials, His involvement in the creation of etorque, that he is considered "the father of etorque" and can you still say he is wrong?, you do not...
Here is an extensive video where they explain How etorque helps at "highway " and "steady state"
The Engineer in this video is called "the father of etorque" aand you are claiming he is wrong?
Your point is:
1 you "don't believe" the Engineer know as "The Father of Etorque?
2) Even though...
So Forbes and several videos interviewing RAM engineers are all wrong. Is it your contention the RAM engineer in the last video is lying?
Seriously view the video in the last post. The RAM Engineer goes to length to explain how etorque helps at "steady state" speeds by extending 4 cylinder...
Okay another video where an RAM engineer discusses the benefit of etorque at highway "steady state" speeds and how it allows 4 cylinder mode to be heed longer. This engineer even says at 70 MPH it extends cylinder deactivation. Is this RAM Engineer wrong too?
At the 7:40 minute point in this...
