If you tow? Absolutely. I like the ability to cheaply change the filter when I drain the fluid. (Gotta drop the pan, natch.) The extra 1 quart I have has definitely dropped my normal temps by ~6F. Not much, but something. Extra fluid is always good. ;)
Thanks.
For a different vehicle with a parasitic draw, I just purchased a TopDon 002c thermal imager. My plan is to open the hood, let it sit (so things can go back to sleep), then look around for a warm relay/module. I saw it work on a youtube video. ;)
I would think so. Were it me...I'd go for it.
FWIW, I -think- all these ZF8 pans share the same pan. (The depth may differ.) I've gambled on that by buying a BMW pan for an Alfa. I was right. The same pan gasket fits my Ecodiesel.
I cannot imagine the hemi would have a unique ZF pan.
Yeah...as my high school student driver instructor said, "Always stay out of the red!". ;)
The yellow/white transition occurs at random times as far as I can tell. No correlation to speed, acceleration, or steering angle.
The most frustrating part? There is NO mention of this in the manual...
Okay...I have searched but found nothing. Yes, I've read the manual. ;)
On the central instrument cluster, the Offroad Menu shows the drivetrain. Sometimes part of it is white. Sometimes part of it is yellow. I can't figure out what the colors mean.
Here are some pictures.

Random story...
Years ago, Car and Driver used to do very thorough radar detector tests. Then, they started testing radar guns. One article that caught my attention was their attempts to "stealth" their test vehicles.
They found that retractable headlights (stowed) were a HUGE factor in...

Failed/failing water pump. Check by opening a hose, starting, and watching the flow that comes out.
Similar issue with radiator. Clogged?
Stuck thermostat? Check by starting cold and taking temps of radiator in/out hoses. Once thermostat opens, they should flow/change temp...
Update:
I dropped the truck off on October 27th. A week later, November 3rd, I was called and told the turbo swap was complete.
Everything seems good. The cab stays on when I stop, so that's good. ;) Everything covered by warranty.
I'll test the turbo by pushing hard once spring rolls...
I like it!
One thought: pull that mirror cover off and dremel a small hole for the V1 wire. Make it a half-circle, right where it is against the glass. FWIW.
I had some time yesterday, so I drove the truck up the same road. Sure enough, I got the same error. Again. within a tenth of a mile of the other 4 times it hit. Based on conversations with the service director and at his request, I drove it to the dealership in "limp" mode. (Without resetting...
No. Dealer pushback.
Says the recorded P00AF code is not sufficient. Admittedly, the two incidences show as one "blip". I shall make it occur again and then limp it in.
