How hot is normal for 3.6L Pentastar?

Sub 200f on the highway to me would sound normal.... I wish mine would run at those temps. My concern is longevity running at 230-240 constantly... I believe that the engineers design the engine to run hotter for better fuel economy, but at what cost to long term engine durability I wonder? I...

How hot is normal for 3.6L Pentastar?

Anyone have a Pentastar 3.6 1500? Wondering if anyone's finding their engine running hot, and how hot is "normal"? Have had mine for 2 months and 2300km (1600mi) and engine is often running between 105 and 115 Celsius (220 to 240F). This is with NO load and running in cool outside ambient temps...

Outside temp reading 8 to 10 degrees high most of the time on a 2025 ram 1500 Laramie.

Same issue with my truck. Feb 2025 build Ram 1500 Tradesman. Always reads about 10 degrees warmer than actual temps. Has to be an issue... Im in Canada, and will take it to the dealer at my first oil change to see what they say....

    Back in a RAM!

Thank you! A few thoughts on the 2.7L.... Great low down torque for sure, but I had long term concerns for how stressed that engine was as was seemingly under constant boost. My truck was burning around 1qt of oil every 1000 miles, which GM told me was "normal".... No thank you GM... I want a...

    Back in a RAM!

Thank you! Very glad to be back :) I forgot how great RAMs are to drive. I look forward to my commute now!

    Back in a RAM!

Not strictly a new member, but after 2.5 years driving a (cough, cough) Silverado 2.7L turbo, I'm very glad to be back in a RAM! Wanted to share a pic of my new ride :) This is my 2025 Base Tradesman with 3.6L Pentastar V6. The only factory options are Hydro Blue and 3.55 rear axle. I needed...

    Build Sheets / Equipment Listings

For folks out there who might be looking for a full equipment listing by VIN aka "build sheet".... seems that the location of this service has moved a few times, been completely removed, and has changed format over time, so thought I'd share this as it took me a while to understand how to access...

5th Gen - Roof Water Leaks (Preventive Advice)

Thank you. I took a look at mine but guess I need to get up and unscrew the light housing to determine what the new gasket looks like? I can't see any additional rubber or foam poking out from behind the light...

5th Gen - Roof Water Leaks (Preventive Advice)

Thank you, this is really good information. How would I determine whether or not I have the new gasket by looking at it? My truck was built in December 2021, picked it up in March of 2022.

5th Gen - Roof Water Leaks (Preventive Advice)

I am in Canada and took delivery of our 2022 5th gen Ram 1500 Sport. Have done quite a bit of reading on headliner water damage, most commonly from a leaking 3rd rear (high cab mount) brake light gasket not being of great quality. I'm confused though as to whether this only affects gen 4 and 4.5...

*New* Slim Line Go Rhino RB20 running boards?

You're correct - although the brackets are NXT and the retailer I bought them through categorized these under the NXT range. They are indeed moulded boards, DeeZee part DZ16621.

*New* Slim Line Go Rhino RB20 running boards?

Not RB20s, but the DeeZee NXT Boards are another really nice low profile option. Thats what I went with. Really solid frame, PVC coated boards, OEM look.

Bilsteins at #3 (0.9") with factory ORG rear springs

Thanks for the response - I am thinking I might use the factory ORG springs front and rear in combination with the 5100s.

Bilsteins at #3 (0.9") with factory ORG rear springs

Do you have any pics of your truck with the Bilsteins in setting 3 and ORG springs in the rear? I am considering the same (1") lift - but I am considering using the Bilstein 5100 in the rear which I believe gives 0-1" lift in the rear. Did you use Bilsteins in the rear as well or just the...

1" vs 2" Lift - Opinions and pics?

Hi everyone - New member here from the great white north of Canada and proud new owner of new 2022 Ram 1500 Sport Crew 5.7. Traded from a 2021 2500 Hemi 6.4 as no longer towing our fifth wheel... I'm wanting to go with a slight lift (nothing crazy) and looking for opinions and pictures of your...
