Getting back to Hertz's decision to de-emphasize electrics.... I reserved a car at Hertz & when I went to pick it up, the only one available was a Polestar. It was charged about 70%. I drove the car around 10 miles and returned it around 65% charged. Hertz charged me $35 because I had not...
I've seen a few of these around town in the last month or so. Probably because the Tesla engineering center is on one of my frequent bike routes. My wife agrees 100% with BowDown's assessment.
I'm a little different. I agree that the shape is odd and certainly isn't beautiful in any...
I thought it was a great feature when I bought my Ram. I ended up using it one time, just to see how it worked. May use it again in a year or two just to see if it still works.
Won't miss this feature at all.
I watched the video. Gale Banks comes across as a typical engineer: technical, ornery, fact-oriented, verbose and somewhat snarky. I have some familiarity with the type as my wife is married to an engineer. We are definitely tough to love.
While I don’t have good cause to dispute Gale’s...
Wow! That's a powerful video. The fire captain narrating the video is extremely articulate. He calmly describes the incident rather than hysterically praising or condemning the technology and vendors.
Once low cost imports start taking market share in the USA, there will be an inevitable race...
I have the 3.6L eTorque and tend to drive at speed limit in town and on highway, seldom above. Get around 19mpg typical. Might get 22-23 at constant 60mph, but that isn't a common driving condition for me. My truck is pretty heavy with a bunch of options; maybe a simpler RAM 1500 would do a...
That's great news! Your voltage fluctuation is similar to what I see from day to day. Not sure why, but I haven't noticed any problems with starting and driving.
Caution: I'm not an auto mechanic, so feel free to ignore my comment.....
It takes a 0.04 ohm short (or less) to cause 12V/300A short. This is an extremely low resistance. I've seen this type of event in a non-automotive application when a small wire or other piece of metal gets caught...
Saw this thread and was curious. So I went back and looked at the thread you originally posted. After reading the negative comments there, I understand your reaction.
My experience on this site has been 99% positive. But for the few caustic comments my posts have received, I treat them like...
You have a good list here. I'd also add charging time (perhaps you included that in Charging Infrastructure).
Actually, unless manufacturers fix the problem of charging time/infrastructure/range on a truck carrying a reasonable load, I never even look at any of the cost/interest...
Very scary episode. Good that you kept your wits and didn't panic. Your family and everybody on the road around you is lucky that you knew what to do and stayed calm. Thanks for letting all of us fellow RAM 1500 owners know.
What think about reporting to NHTSA database? They won't care if...
Beautiful truck!
I got a door ding in my 2021 and tried explaining to my wife that I needed to replace it with a 2024. Sorta like what you did, but without the same success that you had.
Can you have your wife call mine to explain the necessity of replacing a rig when it gets scratched?
Good to hear that NOCO has been shamed into supporting their defective product. I agree that it isn't worth making your own day miserable when a vendor behaves badly and it might cost you $50 wasted. But still, nobody likes to be taken advantage of.
Glad it all worked out for you.
Sad to see a dealer trying to cheat their customers so blatantly. I'm mixed on electric cars, but they do seem to require much less maintenance. Expect your dealer will still try to charge $179 for inspecting the fuel insuction system (whatever that is) on a full electric vehicle.
