Endorsement is pointless. Quaker State is one of the worst oils to run in these. Search the FB groups - used oil analysis has it putting out some of the highest wear numbers of any oil tested in these trucks.
56K on my truck - probably started around 40K or so, then went away for a bit, and now it's back. Mine isn't too bad (at least IMO). Annoying, sure, but if it's the worst problem I have with this truck, I can live with it.
The quickest thing you can do is loosen the oil filter/make sure it's not crossthreaded somehow and retighten it to spec. If the threads and gasket aren't sufficiently lubed, it's possible to hit the torque spec before the filter bottoms out... it must bottom out against the housing, then be...
Yeah that doesn't look great, but... first world problems. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it if you can't get anywhere. On a side note, it looks like they're using cheaper dash "leather" (probably vinyl) now than the earlier trucks came with. Probably for cost, but maybe durability reasons.
One of my previous 5th gens did this. I "fixed" it by adding some RTV around the temp sensor (leaving the tip exposed) to seal it off.
My current 5th gen is the same, but not really a howl, and doesn't take much wind to cause it... Just a slightly annoying whistle. Tried taping off just about...
What are you guys lubing it with? Mine has squeaked from time to time but I've never lubed it. I assume you need to use something that can extreme temps during regen?
I'm sure you filled it to the proper level, but interesting this gave you an issue. I was planning to change mine in the spring time when I'll be around 60K miles and was going to use Amsoil SS ATF, but now I may reconsider that.
How did the factory fluid look when you drained it?
So you would use sandpaper to clean it? Because that's essentially what a Magic Eraser is. No, you should not use one on leather.
Nothing wrong with a light leather interior if it's regularly cleaned and protected. The cloth is a a bit more risky though.
I'd start with some sort of leather...
I put 7 quarts in on a recent HO oil change and it's showing max safe level... interesting considering it calls for 7.5 (maybe that's the dry number), but after seeing several people getting overfill messages when using the correct amount, I erred on the lower end. I'd say the alert is somewhere...
The situation was handled poorly on both sides. I don't see why you'd just show up without scheduling an appointment for something that will take hours to do plus having the correct parts in stock. Sure, they'll take your keys and get to it... whenever. Either they were extremely backed up, or...
