Hello,

I just bought my first Ram truck, a 2026 1500 Limited Longhorn in Molten Red PearlCoat with the Bison Brown Filigree interior and 3.0L i6 H.O. Hurricane engine, it has the RamBox Cargo System and a soft tonneau cover, I went to order the BakFlip 4 hard locking tonneau cover online when I got home from picking up my truck and was asked if I had the black or silver bed rails in the truck bed, when I looked they are the black rails, I was told that I would need the silver bed rails to be able to install a hard tonneau cover and that you can only get them from Ram for $670.

Is there any place to get them cheaper besides possibly a salvage yard?

I had no idea that this would be an issue or extra cost since it came with the soft tonneau cover from Ram.

Yeah, the silver rails are needed for most aftermarket covers. There is someone who bought a cover that was compatible, but I don’t remember what company it was.
Also, keep those black rails with your factory cover, they must go with if you want to sell it.

Yes indeed,
A company call Dealer Option out if Augusta GA ... Phone number 706-651-9394. They installed a hard rollup lockable cover on my Ram 2022 Limited.

Good Luck

I´ve had a hard trifold cover installed by the dealer on my Ram Limited. It is a piece of Sh.... the foam spacers are slipping out of place after just 3 weeks, the hooks won't stay stowed for the cover to get folded, there's nothing to hold the cover in place when fully open.
Has anyone used one of those? I want to know if I got a bad one, or if all of them are that bad.
It was expensive AF but seemed to be the easy button to replace the soft one that came with the truck.

For a hard trifold, you really can't go wrong with a Diamondback cover. Yes it's expensive, but there's zero issues with however your truck is configured. It doesn't matter if you have the black or silver rails or if you have ramboxes or MFT with the triangle brackets. It works with all of them without modification. Yes it's expensive, but I couldn't be more pleased with using it. Pretty waterproof and secure.

Completely agree with the Diamondback. I looked at a lot of different options that were less expensive. The Diamondback will last as long as the truck, so it’s a one time cost. It looks great and there’s no way anyone is ever breaking into it.
