Overheating issues

Hey everyone, im in need of some advice here, got a 2019 5th gen etorque 5.7, it started having overheating issues a couple months back, I replaced the thermostat, no luck, I replaced the water pump, the reservoir and nothing, I could drive a couple of hours before I had to add coolant but today I found out I had a blockage in my radiator, I flushed it out, and now I cant drive more than 5 minutes before I overheat. I will note that I don't have any heat, so Im guessing my heater core is clogged up but I'd like to try everything before I take the whole cabin apart just for that. Any ideas would be great thanks!

Did you perform the coolant system air evacuation procedure?

"Evacuating or purging air from the cooling system involves the use of a pressurized air operated vacuum generator. The vacuum created allows for a quick and complete coolant refilling while removing any airlocks present in the system components"

What did you refill it with? Service data specifies the use of distilled water if diluting concentrate antifreeze.

I just went with a 50/50 pre diluted coolant, I lifted the front end and ran it for about half an hour filling as needed, it was bubbling which makes me think I may have a headgasket issue, im hoping not but just in case I got a tester im picking up tomorrow, so I'll update then!
 
I've seen them use a surgen type glove stretched over the radiator cap to test for head gasket. If it expands you've got problems.

So I just went out and tried that, at idle nothing happened, when I rev and hold it still nothing, when I let off it inflates for a couple seconds then deflates, am I screwed??

No, that's normal. And as the coolant heats up and expands, so will the glove. Poor test for head gaskets. Especially since head gasket failures don't always leak into cooling passages

If it was leak inot oil passage he would have a milkshake in the radiator.

Ive got a tester coming in the morning, I'll try it out and let yall know what happens
 
When does it overheat? When driving, idling, idling with hood open?

Or is it a coolant consumption issue? If its not leaking externally it is burning it, leaking into engine oil, or leaking into the transmission fluid.
 
Once again, not all head gasket failures go into a coolant passage .

Weren't you talking about a leak FROM the cylinder into the water jacket which would be indicated by exhaust gases in the radiator/coolent, thus expanding the baloon /glove. I was talking about a leak from the oil passage to the coolent passage. A head gasket leak can be to either of these, or to the atmosphere from any of these, which would be easier to see, so, true.

Sounds like you have a clog somewhere in the system. You can disconnect the radiator hoses and heater core hoses and run a garden hose thru the components to flush them out. After that you would need to reassemble then flush the entire system a few times with distilled water to get everything out, then top off with half the system capacity of concentrated coolant, and whatever is let with distilled water. Under vacuum if possible when refilling.

Was this a compatible coolant? Was it used prior? I believe using incorrect coolant can cause build up issues.
 
Sounds like you have a clog somewhere in the system. You can disconnect the radiator hoses and heater core hoses and run a garden hose thru the components to flush them out. After that you would need to reassemble then flush the entire system a few times with distilled water to get everything out, then top off with half the system capacity of concentrated coolant, and whatever is let with distilled water. Under vacuum if possible when refilling.
Yeah I think I have a clog in my heater core, I just used two different combustion testers and they were both negative, just picked up a new radiator and heater core, so im going to tear my dash apart and let yall know if it fixed my issues

If you have to open everything up may as well try to flush it out first before replacing. That's what I would do anyway. Many times some reverse pressure will blow out what crud is blocking it up. At least for the heater core.
 
Alldatadiy has the dash removal procedure to access the heater core.
You can sign up for a one month subscription for around 20 bucks, money well spent.

I was saying his test with the glove isnt a good test for head gasket.
