Hello all,
I am brand new to the DT, or Ram world for that matter. I recently picked up a 2021 Ram Sport (Canada-only trim level), basically a Laramie with a few less bells and whistles from what I’ve gathered.
I’d like to level it, and I need some of your wisdom. I’m probably overthinking a lot of this, but that’s just what I do.
I already know better than to run a lift puck setup - I like doing things right the first time, and I’ve heard these will ruin your front suspension. The truck in question does not have the off-road package (ORP) option. I am strongly leaning towards going with a set of 0-2.6” adjustable Bilstein 5100s, as that’s what a lot of people seem to be fond of. I’ve run Bilstein 5100s on previous trucks over the years and have always been impressed with them. But this is uncharted territory for me, as I’ve only ever owned trucks with torsion bars.
I don’t do a lot of off-roading - mostly highway driving. I love the leveled look, and enjoy having the extra ground clearance. But ride quality and reliability are paramount to me. Can anyone provide any input as to which clip I should run in order to maintain a leveled (and not squatted) look? I’m thinking either clip 5 (1.7 inches of lift) or clip 6 (2.2 inches of lift). I feel that clip 7 would absolutely require new UCAs, and would leave me with a squatted truck (which I definitely DON’T want). I’d rather keep the stock UCAs. But that leads me to my next question: will I need aftermarket UCAs? And if so, what do people usually recommend for UCAs with a ~2 inch level?
Finally, my truck has the stock split 5-spoke 22s. I’m planning on swapping out the stock highway tires for 305/45R22 Nitto RidgeGrapplers around the same time I pull the trigger on the leveling kit. From what I’ve gathered, I shouldn’t run into too much rubbing with a 2 inch level. If anyone else is running this size, any feedback on how they fit/whether they rub would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Matt
