May be of interest to others, I have a 21 with 35K and no issues, hoping this helps......................

If by "later Hemi" you mean the ones in our 5th gen trucks, then yes it made a difference. Now instead of the bolts snapping, usually the manifold itself cracks. Still a sh|tty problem but I'd prefer the manifold to crack as it's far worse trying to get broken bolts out of the block.

I had both my sides replaced with BD Diesel manifolds. Only the driver side had cracked but I didn't see the point in waiting for the other side to crack, got both done at the same time and hopefully for good.

I believe there is something different on them from the last few years. My 19' has had both sides crack, covered under warranty. The new ones they put on have different parts #'s from the original ones. Have no idea what the difference is but they have yet to crack again but hasn't been too long. Left was done at around 50K, the right done at around 74k, at 83k now.

how much did that run you

By the time I include parts and labour for the mechanic, it was over $1000 CAD. It wasn't cheap, but probably cheaper than doing it over and over again, expecting different results with the same flawed OEM parts.

regarding the exhaust manifold cracks causing the "tick", has anyone had to get them replaced at the dealer? I see that there is a service bulletin 09-019-23 (issued Oct 7, 2023) that seems to indicate this is a known problem and there is "claim info" including codes and parts the dealer needs to do the work.

I have a 2019 1500 5.7 Hemi with 163k (mostly highway) that I take very good care of. This tick came up about 2 weeks ago and the engine started running rough, loss of power when I need it, and crap gas mileage. Got the P0308 code for misfire cylinder #8. Overdue for plugs, I changed all of them and all the ignition coils. No change after clearing the code. Code P0308 comes back as soon as I need a little power... Oil is full and changed regularly with full synthetic and using recommended weight.

Then I found videos here and online about the exhaust manifold cracks, so I wonder if it's that. I also noticed that it's a little louder overall than before this started. No smoke out the tailpipe or anything suggesting it's burning oil.

Just hoping for anyone who had a similar problem and their solution.

Thanks!
