Just wanted to share a bit of experience after having the SO Laramie for about a year and recently trading it in on an HO Limited. Both have the 3.92 gears. What i will say is that the SO throttle was very touchy. What i mean is that when i wanted to get off the line just a little quicker than a regular green light, most of the time i'd end up whip lashing myself and passengers because the damn thing would just instant slam you back and go. The HO, wether because of the tuning or the engine, or whatever, seems like theres a lot more variance. I can still do the neck snapping by putting the pedal down far, but if i just want say a brisk launch, its so much smoother and easier to do in the HO than the SO.

Nice truck. Major props for parking that monster in the garage. Tight squeeze.

I'd love to find someone who has had extensive use of the SO and the HO to hear their thoughts. Searching all around the internet it seems people usually have experience with one and not the other.

To me around town, even though both trucks have the 3.92, the SO felt like it was much snappier from a stop. I'm not sure if thats the larger turbo's of the HO taking some time to get going or exactly what, but to my butt dyno, the SO seemed and bit more eager to get up and go than the HO.

I actually only ever parked the Laramie in backwards because its not only a tight squeeze but there is also a outside water spigot right in the center of the front grill on that wall to make it even more challenging! I was always too scared i'd get too close to it and put a hole in my grill, but the Limited with the 360 view cameras make it easy peasy to lock in on the spigot and get right up to an inch or so away from it every time no problem. Love that! The downside of parking it in reverse is that i was always worried about how much exhaust i'd be getting into the house, so i'd always try to get it out of the garage ASAP after startup, and now this way i can even remote start on these -15 degree days without having to pull it out first. :)

Gigatigga,

Welcome to 5th Gen Rams, and welcome to being an official RAM 3.0L SST H.O. owner. We are elite, as in not everybody has the benjamins to own these ultra-fine and rare high-performance street trucks. You are Limited now, and that means this truck and its owners are Limited as well, as intended. So enjoy the Elite Club in the baddest, most prestigious truck on the market for the street.

Now then, all those ultra-sensitive throttle responses with the S.O. models are because of the smaller turbos, especially the smaller turbine housings--quick spool is everything to avoid turbo lag. I find this to be an advantage for this truck in the 3.55 rear diff gear set, but I can understand what you mean by having the 3.92 gear set. Now you have a truck with way more power and torque with bigger turbos and exhaust housings, and so this power/torque is much more manageable. You can manage this w/CAT6 or JB4 piggyback tuners.

I park my truck face-first in the garage, as it is way easier to park than in reverse, and I don't have to worry about exhaust fumes--open garage, start, reverse, drive way, repeat! All the 360 cameras ensure safety. Good luck and sagin, welcome!
