How long do you sit in traffic or idle?

Curious about other people’s idle time, I looked at mine and it seems really bad to me lol. I’m sure it’s directly related to MPG, it seems pretty high to me? E7831B1B-2E21-4256-98E6-FE751D5A9BBD.jpeg

I will post mine after owning it for more than a thousand miles haha

My idle time is bad because on really cold mornings I let my truck warm up for a good 20 minutes before I leave for work and pry a good 15 minutes before I head home. My gas mileage has been horrible because of this, but I love getting in a warm truck so I’ll live with it.

My idle time is also bad. Too many conference calls and company policy is to pull over for them.

I'm in construction and in winter my idle time is horrible. But it is what it is. I don't lose any sleep over it.

I'll have to look and take a pic later but I'm guessing mine is reversed from yours! more like 150 idle and 50 driving!

5020 miles
20 Idle (9 hours displayed when i bought the truck)
162 Drive
182 Total

1100km
2 hours idle
24 Drive
26 Total

Had it for little over a month.

10,266 miles
26 idle hours
265 drive hours
Haven’t looked for awhile, honestly thought idle time would be more.

I've been remote starting the truck every morning for about 5 minutes before I leave, and the same after work. I've been averaging 10.0 mpg exactly as of tonight.

This makes me feel better lol, I thought it was just me. Remote start just kills mpg but when it’s -13, my comfort or mpg has to suffer. No brainer for me

Given my line of work I sit and wait a lot. Probably should have gone with an eTorque now that I realize how much time I do idle. (Waiting and idling as I type this)

Holy hell, how do you have a range of 357 miles?? 33 gal tank?

Is that dust and crap on my column!?!?I just noticed, gross time to clean the inside today

I was just discussing this issue last night with the Warden while waiting for the AAA tow truck for another vehicle, not my RAM19!!!

(Warden= other half, she likes that name as we call her it around the house cause she gets strict about her household and abiding her rules!!!)lmao!!!

I actually let it idle for an hour enjoying the A/C and the mileage went down 30 miles. Figured I would check it out now and have crude baseline for when I travel from Fla to Pa. I stop at rest areas and may catnap 2-3 hours. Too short a time to get a hotel room and one of the reasons I really appreciate the big back seat to lay down!!! (I do crack open the windows)

Idle 48
Drive 123
Total 171

3,454 miles total (3 months)

In the beginning I was in my truck all the time sitting in driveway enjoying the new vehicle(Florida driveway equals A/C blasted). Then times at the beach when too hot...in truck idling enjoying scenery, mornings in truck idling enjoying heated seats (yeah I know Florida...chronic back issues), so I know why my idling is up there.

I never really paid this much attention in the past vehicles but watching that mileage drop in the RAM19 made me curious. That would be 2-3 gallons of fuel burning per hour correct, depending on your MPG???
(Mine said 12.6MPG)

I don't know if it burns off differently at idle versus running if that makes sense. Either way love my RAM19!!!
