Stellantis Ownership Woes: My 2021 RAM Limited Dashboard Is Falling Apart at 58K Miles - Completely Bubbling and Peeling

limited used to be the luxury model... not any more. load up a laramie and get the same as a limited for less $$ and not stuck with the HO premium fuel engine
Laramie and Limited leather seating surfaces/materials are NOT the same. At least in the HD, there are many other differences.

They are different in the 1500 too. a Loaded up Laramie isn't = to a Limited and is probably more $$

a TRUCK with a leather covered dash??? yeah that is a bad idea.
the Laramie don't have the issue but it's not leather and look's better IMO. a limited 1500 is more of luxury car than a truck. i have a Laramie 1500 and i call it a glorified car all the time. look even Ferrari leather dashes peal. it is what it is. the dash get's HOT any glue will break down over time. the leather shrinks get's brittle and can crack the only thing i blame ram for is putting leather on the dash in the first place they should have known better.

Not true. I have a C5 Z06 with an Apsis leather dash; has been in the car for 12-13 years and not one sign of trouble. Its the glue used and chemicals used on the dash.

with 41k on it and in a garage that's less than 4000 miles a year......that dash don't see much sun. shrinkage is a common issue on leather dashes

One thread I read about this referenced using a leather protector recommended from Ram that caused this.
Curious if you happened to treat the leather on the dash and if so with which product?
I don’t, but when I bought the truck, it was definitely coated with that horrible glossy dressing dealers use to make pre-owned vehicles look “new.” Since then, I’ve only wiped it down occasionally with a dry cloth.

I agree, one thing I don't need is a leather dash.

It was in the garage at the time of that pic, car spent a over year outside in the sun waiting for a new engine. No tint on any windows and it has had leather protectant on it up until the time i discovered that it may cause issues with the adhesive. Leather doesn't actually shrink, its stretched over the surface for a snug fit; when the adhesive breaks down, the leather comes up. The replaced dash in my limited doesn't look like the original dash, you could see where the adhesive was applied and where it wasn't (lines). The new dash didn't have that.

Above is the new dash, the old dash you could see horizontal glue lines going left to right in that same area making it obvious where the adhesive was and it came up in areas where there was no adhesive.
The dash in my new truck looks the same, if it comes up, I'll deal with it the same way I did this one and move on to the next problem. Is it a hassle, Yes. Is it the end of the world, no and if this is the worse problem I have to deal with then I'm doing good.
