So I’ve done some stuff to try and increase the performance of my ram rebel which has the 3.92 gears. Did long tubes, full exhaust, CAI, hemifever tune and maybe some other small things im forgetting. I’m sure I gained a little off my 0-60 and 1/4 mile BUT, when comparing it even now to the newer rams with the hurricane times this thing still seems slow :(… I love the V8 sound don’t get me wrong but for me to match the performance of the hurricane rams or even the ford f150 ecoboost, I would have to spend 10k to supercharge this truck just for it to keep up…just kind of sucks that all of those small engine twin turbos are putting the big V8s to shame right now

Say what? The big hemi v8's are putting out 700, 800, 1000+ hp. The problem isn't hurricane vs hemi, the problem is Ram only ever gave us the smallest hemi in the Ram.

I say "problem", but really, ~400 hp isn't enough to get you to the next stoplight?

Not when the lawn mower v6 trucks are zooming by me at said light

Just curious, why do you need more performance?
Are you towing?
I have a 2022 BH, 1500, 5.7 with 3.92 and it's performance is what I am looking for...

Take one on a test drive, it couldn't hurt to see what it's like. No point in owning something you're not happy with. Personally I'm going to wait and see what the next couple years are going to bring. If the TRX comes back or an SRT 6.4 in the 1500, a small engine twin turbo won't do it for me

It's not that, it's the gutless mid range power from 1600-3500. It has no torque or not enough for the weight of the truck and makes the truck not drive well (needs a lot of throttle).

I agree

It’s pretty obvious who never drove older Ram generations. Imagine having at least 150 hp less pre-Hemi yet somehow we survived just fine. My 1999 with a 245 hp 360 V8 did everything I needed it to do. Just wasn’t winning any drag races.

Nope, had a 2004 prior to this one lol

There will always be a faster lawn mower. When you beat the mousy motors you'll find that the EVs are smoking you so bad they can go for coffee between lights and still kick your butt.

I get not keeping up with an EV car, there’s not that many EV trucks except maybe the ford lightning.. Im just talking truck for truck, not necessarily every vehicle on the road

Yeah, the 5.7 has always been an underachiever in the Ram. It's fine in a 1500 lb lighter car, but... An SRT bloodline 6.4 in these trucks is really what is needed. Even then it wouldn't feel like a racercar, but at least it wouldn't feel deficient.

Hemi made 345 HP that year. Try dropping 100 hp more before the Hemi. All that was available was a 318 and 360 peaking at 245 hp. Guys still did big lifts/tires, towed large loads back then with no complaints. My point was the current 395 hp Hemi although not a speed demon isn’t exactly lacking for power.

Check out these numbers😲
