*HEMI UPDATE* 2026 Ram 1500 Factory Orders @ MARK DODGE

OK thanks. Yeah, I was planning on a Limited or so level as well, so it sounds like the new colors won't apply.
Per the build sheet Anthony provided at the beginning of this thread, the new colors do apply to Limiteds. Here's a screenshot

It’s usually a month or two behind when the ordering starts for the next year model. Only trouble with those nice new colors, they are really only for Laramie and below. And if you want the Rambox option ( automatically on Tungstens ) that also restricts what colors you can opt for.
From what I saw, there are no new colors that I could order. I usually have the Limited ( which I believe is gone for’26, it’s now the Longhorn, then the Tungsten.
Double check the build sheets Anthony provided at the beginning of this thread. The new colors are available on the Limited and Tungsten trims (excluding Canyon Lake on Tungsten).

As far as the Limited/Longhorn - it's basically the Longhorn that is "gone" not the Limited. While still available, it's no longer a separate trim but an optional package for the Limited as they have the same model code. I think the only difference is you get the bison brown interior and Longhorn badging while being restricted against other options (no Night Edition on the Longhorn, for example). I believe this change happened for the 2025 MY as prior years they were separate trims with more differences in standard features.

I don't think that's correct. At least on the Ram build site for 2025 models, Limited Longhorn and Limited are separate models. But it's not uncommon for the build site to contain errors.

Unfortunately the Ram site build tool has not been updated for 2026, so there could definitely be some changes once they get it squared away for the new model year. For the time being I would trust what Anthony provided for the 2026 models as the dealership would be more in the know about what is going on presently.

With that being said, I have a few questions. I am worried about the electronics on the 2026.

Is the etorque system covered under the 10 year power train warranty?

Do all 1500 still have the MDS, if so can it be disabled?

Most importantly about how long do orders normally take and about how much notice do you get? I will need to be sure and order so I will be available to fly in to get it.

I would love to get the same truck I have but in a 2026.
I can answer a couple of your questions, but not the question about placing an order.

The etorque components are covered under the 8/80 emissions warranty. Not all dealerships are aware of this and some have tried to deny claims. But it's expressly written in the warranty paperwork.

All 1500's with the Hemi V8 have MDS. The 3.6l V6 and Hurricane engines do not have MDS. It can be temporarily disabled using the "shift" buttons on the steering wheel. But because it always re-enables if you shift out of D you need to do that every time you shift into D. To permanently disable it requires mechanical changes to the engine.

I did some experimenting with my 5.7L non-eTorque. I would run through an entire tank with MDS off all the time, then run through a tank with MDS on, then another tank with MDS off, then a tank with MDS on.... so on and so forth. Hand calculating each tank and filling up at the same gas pump with the same driving circuit each week. After a month or two went by I looked at the results. MDS on resulted in a gain of 0.3 MPG.

I would gladly give up 0.3 MPG to have a more reliable engine. I wish Ram would listen.

I am so glad I found a no BS dealer. They are hard to find here in Florida.

I am going to buy a 2026 Ram with a V8. I keep and take care of my trucks. My current truck still had the suction cup marks on the tailgate when I picked it up. I got the 4.7 because that was the first year of the MDS. The only problem I have with it is the TIPMS. I love my truck so much I have considered if it ever broke down just having a new motor a transmission installed. If there was a way to bypass the TIPMS I would.

The details of the powetrain warranty rules I'll attach here.
Orders for a HEMI placed now will probably arrive at end of year

The 2026 Build Site is up but I see no options to add the 5.7 to ANY of the 4x4 6"4" bed trucks, that's a deal killer for me as I haul offshore fishing gear to the coast and back...wanted to buy a Molten Red Limited but it's "late availability" anyway so we will see.

I think they are still working on the build tool. While they have 2026 as a selection for the 1500 and I can select 2026, when I then click on the picture it looks like its going to open up the build section but it kicks back to the starting view. When I selected 2026 under the RHO it did indeed go to the build section. So it seems this is a work in progress. But at least there is some movement there.

I had suspected this...
Tim K/Ram said that the G/T exhaust would come standard on every 5.7 Ram.
That exhaust only ever was made for the Crew Cab Short Bed configuration.

I doubted they'd engineer a version of the G/T exhaust for the LWB 6'4" bed option, so figured they'd either a) use the standard exhaust on the LWB or b) not offer the 5.7 on the LWB. Looks like the latter.

Yeah, it's not working for me either. I'll check again in a couple days.

Definitely a work in progress. On a side note, for those dealer sites that I've checked thus far, any 2026 Rams they have on order are only the 3.6L Pentastar V6 or one of the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter Hurricane I6 engines. I suspect any ordered Hemi equipped trucks will be a little slower to be delivered.

Just ordered my v8 hemi on 7/2 on a bighorn. Any idea when it’ll be built? Asked dealer and they said no clue lol. I’m thinking sometime in August but who knows.

What I saw is that Monday, August 18th is the day the 5.7L trucks are scheduled to begin production.

I want one, but I do not want one now. It's been quite a while since the lines built 5.7L trucks and they will need time to get the bugs out.

Looks like the Ram build it site is working now for the '26 1500.

It's $1000 more for a Longhorn than a Limited. Can anyone tell me the difference, other than the interior color options?

With the Ram build site still having issues the best way to know for sure is to hit your local dealership. In the past the main differences were in different exterior and interior colors, filigreed interior on the Longhorn, and the fact that you couldn't get the Longhorn with the Night Edition package. There were other differences as far as standard features go, but that was when the Limited was actually the highest trim level.

Thanks for the info. I went right on the site and was able to build a ‘26 1500 Limited. I did choose the Hemi in my build. I was pleasantly surprised to see when I chose Molten Red ( big surprise to me was the extra colors are available - at least in the configurator ), it did not prevent me from adding the Rambox with Molten Red.
I did try to add color match bumpers, but they got deleted when I added the Hemi. Why?
One big gripe I have though is that it automatically throws on a tri-fold bed cover. No Good. I have a ReTrax cover that I would throw onto the ‘26. But it will have the wrong bed rails. At least I don’t have to get a sunroof. I love the look of the Tungsten front end, but I DO NOT want a sunroof. Bummer

If you have the silver rails in your current truck you can swap them into the new one. That's what I did on a 2021 Limited I bought. I did the swap myself while the paperwork was being printed out. Check with your sales rep.

Yea. I thought of that after I posted. I had actually done that in the parking lot of the dealership when I traded my ‘15 1500 on a ‘16 1500. It’s just not wanted as I will order the truck and I’m still paying for the bed cover. Previously I found the ‘16 1500 on a dealer lot, so I didn’t have a choice then.
