I have a 2019 ram 3500 6.7 longhorn. About 2 yrs ago I had the windshield replaced on my truck. They had to remove the camera behind the rearview mirror to do this. When I got my truck back about a day went by of normal driving and I happened to be towing a trailer as well. I started my truck at one point during the day and I got an esc saying that the fcw was unavailable and requires service. I went back to the glass shop and they revalibrated it and it was good for about 2 weeks. It happens again about 2 weeks after that, and then 2 months after. It’s been on and off at different intervals over the past two years. I recently noticed that it now normally occurs when I hookup a trailer. It went out on three separate occasions 2 weeks ago and I have to have it recalibrated every time. Luckily I have a good relationship with the glass shop so I’m able to borrow the tool and do it myself. The most annoying part of all of this is that the cruise doesn’t work when the system goes out
My questions would be is anyone else experiencing something like this? And does anyone know if that system can be shutoff in the ecm on the truck so that the system is inactive all together. I know you can shut it off in the settings but that hasn’t changed anything as far as the startup check that the truck performs and then finds the fault.
I should also mention that I did have some corrosion on the truck side of the trailer plug so I disassembled it all the way down to the wires and cleaned the connections. I then installed an entire new connector on the truck side and am still having the issue.
Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks
