Recon grapplers thoughts?

I had posted earlier about downsizing Tire size from 22 to 18 to get more sidewall for a better ride. That would be an expensive move for me as I have to buy rims as well. Was looking around and saw the Nitto Recon grapplers come in a 305/55/22 in a S rating. Has anyone had any experience with the Recon’s? How are they in the rain? Did you put a lot of miles on before replacing? And the real important question will the ride be better with the S rating compared to LT/E rating which is what I have now.

check out toyo AT3 then. those have been out for awhile now.

how are they on wet pavement? I live in Florida and my Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT which is what I am replacing now were great. Just want to see if moving back to non-LT tire will help with the ride. Oh, and I want to stay close to a 35" if possible. I have 285/55-22 now

Opinions are all over the place on these tires, but I had a set and hated them. I did 275/60r20 and they looked great on the ram. I found wet traction to be poor even when new, they were loud, and rode rough. Stupidly I kept them for 2 years and found myself less and less happy with the truck overall, especially on long road trips.

I installed a set of 22" take-offs from a new Ram and suddenly I wasn't thinking about selling the truck anymore. Ride and drive was improved dramatically. Looks are objectively worse but I learned my lesson.

Had the Ridge [not recon] Grapplers on my '19 Laramie and the Toyo AT3's on the Wrangler - both pretty slippery when wet. Really good off road on both though. On my '24 I'm looking to get either the Falken WildPeak AT4W or Cooper Discoverer Road + Trail AT when OE Scorpions run out, preferring quiet and comfort to OH use.
