I recently picked up a new Limited, my fourth RAM but the first to not have a the Hemi. So far I'm loving it but there's one issue I can't seem to figure out.

At highway speeds I am hearing a very slight humming or whistling sound coming from what sounds like the rear of the truck. It's easiest to hear at ~75mph and ~2100RPM. When I hear it, if I release the throttle or add significant throttle, the sound lessons to the point of being very hard to detect.

I am still running the factory Pirelli Scorpions which I've known, especially when new, to be a quiet tire. The break-in procedure was followed, as prescribed, until the 500mi mark. I have yet to do any towing or go wide open throttle. This is also definitely not the sound of spooled turbos.

The issue:
- hum/whine/whistle at high speed
- possibly occurring at lower speed, lower gear, same RPM
- Releasing throttle diminishes sound
- Increasing throttle diminishes sound
- Sound level wise, casual conversation will overpower it

My theories:
- Tire noise despite what I mention above. My last truck had the same Pirelli's and I don't recall hearing this sound
- The frequency of the engine/exhaust is resonating with something
- Trouble in the rear diff
- The noise cancellation system is not functioning properly

Has anyone else noticed this in their truck?

Stupid question but, have you made sure all windows are completely closed?

Not stupid at all - All windows tightly sealed
Sorry but I can't resist...
Seriously hope you find/solve the problem...View attachment 202035
I have to admit I've never seen that one. Noted! :)

I read somewhere that the trucks with the HO like mine have a heavier rear end. I also forgot to mention my other trucks were 3.21 where this time around I had to take the 3.92. Shooting from the hip here but could I be hearing a little extra gear noise?

If this were a rear end problem, would it get worse as the miles go on?
