Slight vibration when in park

Laramie 4x4 V8 hemi seems to have a slight vibration when in park. Right when you switch it into drive or reverse it goes away. Anyone else experiencing this? Doesn’t seem to happen all the time either. Curious to what is causing it.

Is it super cold where you are right now? It could be from the cold trans fluid.

I have the same thing and they opened up a “ star “ case . Also when sitting at idle sometimes it idles rougher then I feel a new truck should.

I have noted this as well. Feels like a "loping" and is not there when in gear and idling at a stop, just when in park and idling. Waiting for the next time is does it and I'm going to shut off the HVAC and see if the compressor is causing it since the compressor does cycle and will run when in the auto mode.

PorBoy - are you using 89 octane fuel as recommended, or are you using 87 octane? I ask because I know several folks who have had the same feeling, including myself, as you with a 5.7L Hemi and running 89 solved it with both 4th and 5th gens. Some trucks seem more sensitive, but I'd argue that likely related to elevation and ambient conditions. Anyway, when I notice a rougher idle, I go top off my 87-filled tank with some 91 or 93 and it's cured for the tankful. YMMV

I only use 93 in my vehicles as my one car is turbocharged and I’m used to solely using that grade of Fuel.

No hasn’t been cold. I live in Texas on the gulf so it’s been 50-60s here lately. Always have ran 89 octane since I drove the truck off the lot, always filling up at major brand gas stations not cheap ones (grocery stores, etc).

I assume no CEL. Do u have an OBD reader to see what the ignition rate is? To see if any cylinders are firing closer to an out if soec range, but not enough to trigger the CEL? Thats a good way to eliminate some things to narrow down the many causes.
You make a good point. The CEL is not on and I do not have an OBD reader.

There could also be pending codes for such things, just not ready for the engine to vonfirm and toss them on.

You make a good point. No CEL and I don’t have an OBD reader. Guess I’ll have it looked at when I take it in to get my side mirror replaced since the folding aspect is broken.

As odd as it may seem, I had rough idle in my new Ram after filling up recently. I had no warning lights or any indication of an issue other than the symptom itself. I found that my spring gas fill seal (there is no cap on these trucks now) was slightly open. Not sure if I pulled the fill nozzle out wrong or what. I pressed it in and quickly released it, this sealed the gap and my rough idle was gone.

I really would’ve expected an indicator light telling me something was amiss, but alas...no. If it does it again, the dealership will have to resolve for me.

Nothing that sets CEL, and nothing shows out of seemingly normal range in the real time data stream. That's why I'm wondering if it's the compressor kicking in. I can only log the data stream when plugged in, and by the time I grab my gear it stops.

So noted the behavior this morning while on a conference call and pulled over. Interestingly, I had turned on my ECO dash light last week because I've been monitoring my mpg versus driving conditions, and this morning the behavior started when the ECO light popped on! I didn't think there was deactivation while idling? Is this new for the 2019's programming? I need to read up.

I have never seen my eco light come on when idling, ever. In fact, I often wonder why it cant just idle with 4 cylinders.

Wonder if MINE is the messed up one.

Eco never comes on for me while idling as well... I have to get into a "sweet zone" of like 30-45mph until I normally see it de-active the cylinders.

Yeah, I'm puzzled guys. I'm going to try to purposefully duplicate and shoot video of the tach, gear indicator, and light on if it repeats.

Hey I have a 2019 Bighorn 5.7 that has done this since I drove it off the lot. Took it to dealer 3 times, last time they replaced the ECU. After a drive cycle, misfires come back in Mode6 data. Short term fuel trims while idle are -15 on bank 2 and -10 on bank 1. When crusing and driving normal, its as close to zero as can be. I have no idea why the ECU thinks it needs to run lean like this at idle. Only thing that helped was disconnecting both upstream O2 sensors, ECU runs open loop and idle is fine. Reconnect and it went away until a drive cycle or two, mode6 misfires show and Short Term Fuel Trim back to -15 on bank2. There has to be a PCM update that can help with this, its really annoying. I get the HEMI is a big V8 and can shake, this is like bucking and missing. Anyone get any progress with a service dept or STAR case?

Hey, mine also does a slight vibration at "cold start" recently and occassionally. Im living in Florida so nothing under 40°f in morning starts. Using 93 and shutter like shake goes away after I pull off. I was suspecting it's those vibration cancelling speakers they got for the MDS. I think I've readit elsewhere on our forum. To add im still unsure what it is bc I have the etorque and it feels different and acts different in many ways than non etorque.

I noticed a vibration during idle while in park on my big horn within the first couple days of owning it but it didn't seem overly significant. The other night after normal stop and go and a small highway drive I had my truck in park idling and opened the door and noticed my interior lights flickering with the rough idle. No code thrown or anything. Just for general information as I'm sure the 2 are unrelated, a month ago I deleted the muffler and installed the Vararam intake. Any suggestions? 2019 Big Horn

mine started at 10k miles. Premium fuel made no difference. Mine is sporadic. only when hot though. I think its a lean condition....just a guess though....
