2025 Laramie 4x4 3.0 SST std output engine. 25k miles. Been doing oil changes at 5k religiously @ the dealership. Last oil change at 20k and the oil level registered normal. 3k into it and all of a sudden my oil overfilled warning came on. Took it to the dealership and they changed the oil as a precaution but told me instead of putting it to the 7.5 qt capacity they put in 6 qts 0W-20. Service manager claims this was done per corporate. Have driven the truck approximately 2k since this change. Oil pressure is normal and a very slight increase in fuel mileage. When I access the electronic oil level it is straight up at the 12 o'clock position. Oil and engine temps and pressures normal. Does running this engine a quart and a half low set off any warning bells for anyone? It sure did me.

I don't love that. Owners manual is 7.5. My truck was sitting at max level from factory. I just had it changed for the first time at 1200 miles. They added 7.5 quarts and it's sitting at max.

Those momos probably overfilled the crankcase because they don't let it drain long enough then had the courtesy of feeding you bull excrement

Maybe, but if that is the case, why didn't the overfill warning show up for 3000 miles???

UPDATE: Just came home from a long loop of highway driving. Went down to Denver and took I-70 up to the Eisenhower tunnel, elevation going from 5280 to over 11,000 feet. Oil temp stayed around 205-210 degrees, water temp at about 205 degrees. Oil pressure going up the mountain varied from 25 to 35 psi on the steepest part of the slope. No complaints at all and no warnings seen or set. Stopped in Dillon to refuel and oil pressure at idle was at 22 psi in gear. This one is a real head scratcher for me. Still have 2 new quarts of oil in the truck in case I see anything strange.

That is odd, but maybe there was some foaming starting to develop as the additives broke down. Hopefully it's not fuel dilution, gas in the oil. Be nice to give it a sniff test but that's more difficult now there isn't a dipstick

If this had happened in the first oil change that might be something to investigate, but in my particular case, the overfill warning did not begin until the 4th oil change, and all of them had been filled to the manual's recommended level. So far, running 6 quarts in the pan has netted me a slight increase in oil pressure and slightly lower oil temperatures. I'm just spit-balling here, but the slightly lower oil level may have lowered the level in the pan to where the crankshaft is no longer whipping up the crankcase oil.

I just had my oil changed a week ago and I took a 150-mile trip and the oil light came on and indicated I had to add a quart of oil. I researched with very little success and tried resetting the oil level sensor. After following some instructions, the light stayed on and then the message said add 2 quarts. Took it to the service dept today and they said they added 2.5 quarts of oil and now the gauge sets at max. When I checked the gauge after the oil change, it was a line below max. I'm just wondering if they didn't fill it correctly when they changed it. No leaks, etc. to use that much oil in a week. Anyone else experience something like this?
