Mirror dash cam

I'm on the fence on switching to a rear view mirror dash cam (Wolfbox, Pelsee) in my 19' 1500 limited. I'm wondering if the view is obstructed by the center console on the upper part of the windshield. Also where are you putting the rear camera? I was thinking about the inside rear window

I think you will get a few people talking about it the Fitcam X. I just have the front camera, and I'm pretty happy with it.

Unless you are wanting to use it as a digital reset view mirror while driving, there really is no advantage to the full LED mirror dash cam. Get a decent dash cam with a app for viewing the video and you don't even need a display.

fitcam x with rear camera, works great.. cannot even tell it is there, and powered inside the upper console, so no wires showing..

I had a FitcamX in my 2020, front view only, but now I have a FitcamX in my 2025, both front and rear. I do not even know they are there. As ocwill1 stated, all power comes from the digital mirror now with my 2025 and from the rain sensor in my 2020, so there is no extensive wiring to be done unless you want the recording on 24/7. Even the rear camera wiring took me all of 10 minutes to run from the front to the rear window.

I do dashcam install for customers a lot and figuring out where to put it so it doesn't obstruct the view is the biggest pain in the butt. Running the wire is not hard at all if you know what you're doing.

That said, personally I run FitcamX front and rear in my truck. I extended the rear cam cable (i think i got a 25ft extension or something like that) so I can mount it inside my GFC on the rear window. I like how easy it is to install and how unnoticeable it is, and how it does not interfere with my Covercraft windshield cover. With the mirror mounted ones, when using a quality windscreen cover, it takes time to get it right without hitting the mirror dashcam lol
now, i do wish I went with Wolfbox at times, since my rear view mirror is 100% useless at this time due to camper blocking it. Also the Wolfbox now has 3 channel instead of just front and rear. It now can accept a 3rd camera to be mounted in the grille area, making it extremely useful when rock crawling or going over the crest.

So, if you don't have a camper, get Fitcam X. If you have a camper like me and you go off pavement a lot, get Wolfbox 3 channel.
