Wow! I was getting 18.0 around town and 22 on the highway with my 2022 Laramie and the 5.7 Hemi non E-Torque. I wish I would have kept it now.Unfortunately, this sounds about right.
My 2019 Rebel 4x4 with 5.7 non E-Torque, has averaged anywhere from 13.5 to 15.3 MPG over the course of my ownership.
Well. There's your problem.
that's because the rebel has 3.92 gears and your Laramie more than likely had 321 or 355 which is allot better on highway gas mileage.Wow! I was getting 18.0 around town and 22 on the highway with my 2022 Laramie and the 5.7 Hemi non E-Torque. I wish I would have kept it now.
I got a 2025 rebel with 4000 miles and I'm getting anywhere from 15 to 17 on city and 16 to 19 on highway depending on the wind and how fast I drive of course. if I drive 75 to 80 I get around 15. if I stay under 65 I get 16 to 18. I'm also using 93 gas sometimes 89, it says you can use 87 but if you read the manual the manufacturer recommends 93 for optimal performance!
You'll probably find the sweet spot for MPG around 60+/-. Try that.
I was getting the same mileage with my 2025 Rebel. I purchased it in June. Put just over 10,000 miles on it. But on top of the crappy fuel mileage. Mine was in the shop 4 different times for electrical issues and body panel rattles. Finally made the decision last night to just get rid of it. Traded it for a 2023 Ram 2500 Cummins. I purchased my first new ram 1500 in 2000 and I have purchased 10 since then. The rebel was best looking of all the ones I've owned. But it was also the most expensive and the biggest piece of crap of all of them. Now that ram did away with the V8, I am done with 1500's.
So what was the purpose to get rid of the 5.7 of the Hurricane gets the same mpg? Why did they not fine tune the 5,7 a little more and just keep the greatest V8 MOPAR ever built, you have to wonder? The Hurricane and Hemi are close to the same mpg.
However, the issue is really your Rebel trim. If you un-Rebel it, mainly the 33" Duratracs, and replace them with similar tires (i.e. smaller street oriented) as your previous RAM you should get pretty close.
You still have a 1" lift, but the mpg from that is marginal. I hate that RAM doesn't adjust the Rebels mpg down to compensate for the tires like Chevy does on the Trail Boss. They are allowed to blanket state the EPA rating to all similar configured trims (i.e. crew cab 4x4s), but the EPA does allow them to adjust down any trim if they choose, but Stellantis don't which is fraudulent to me.
I still do not understand why they stopped the 5,7 that got just as good MPG as the 6 Banger?I got a 2025 rebel with 4000 miles and I'm getting anywhere from 15 to 17 on city and 16 to 19 on highway depending on the wind and how fast I drive of course. if I drive 75 to 80 I get around 15. if I stay under 65 I get 16 to 18. That would be such a good move to keep the 5.7 and offer the new Hurricane. I personally like the 5.7 but not opposed to the Hurricane. Also, it may be the CO2 requirement will be dropped as well since we have a POTUS who is ready to stand with other countries who are building new Power Plants that we have discontinued while laughing at us with old out dated grids as well.Emissions and improved performance. The Hurricane produces less than half the CO2 the Hemi does while producing more power overall.
There really isn't a way to tune the current Hemi to make it emissions compliant for the future. They need a clean sheet redesign, which is what GM is doing for their small blocks, but you need a CEO who understands the importance of their V8 engines and the budget to do it. Tavares didn't have that vision or interest to do that.
However that could be changing. Besides the strong rumor they are bringing back the old 5.7L for US production and including it on more basic trims of 1500 trucks, they could be considering a new generation of future V8.
Drill Baby Drill2wd stock size tires non ET hemi, if i take ie easy 18-19 around town 24 highway at 65-70 any faster or i mash out it kills my mpg's according to my dash and i'm not going to do my own calculations to check that. idling also kills it so i dont idle it for long to warm it up on cold days. plus it actually warms up faster if ya drive it. i didn't buy a full-size truck with a almost 400 hp engine because i care about gas mileage. but i get it you want to still get the most ya can out of a gallon. i'm waiting for the drilling to lower the cost of fuel. TRUMP don't let us down man.....
I'll Drink to that!!Drill Baby Drill
