What did you WITH your Ram this weekend

Got new wheels and tires installed Saturday. Rough Country 20X9 with 0 offset. Falken AT4 275/60/20.

My wife bought a couch Sunday, so ended up picking it up for her. To date, the largest item I've had in the bed lol. I just have a bed mat, but want to get a spray in liner soon. We closed escrow on a house last week, so going to be doing a lot of small trips to the new house.

... Nothing like sleeping to the sweet sound of a lake rumbling while making ice on a single digit night. I find it quite relaxing....
it's incredible how some people manage to relax where other people would be afraid of so many things.... the cold... the ice that can break and fall into the water... the RAM that never wants to start again...
Compliments, well done
These are things that an Italian should try in his life!!
I would like to know how many degrees it was at night (and during the day)

P.S.: obviously you weren't alone.... I hope

It’s been a bit more mild lately, especially for January. High in the teens mostly (yesterday hit 40) and lows in the single digits. Last week temps didn’t even reach zero and low of -28. Bit too cold for me since I sleep with no heat so I waited for the warm up. I’ve done it before in colder temps but it’s tough. A -35 sleeping bag is great but didn’t want to push it too far this time. Woke up a 6 degrees this morning and was very comfortable in my sleeping bag. Getting out makes a guy feel alive for sure.🥶

Last night was interesting with the large temp swing. Expansion cracks were blasting all night long. Sounds like cracks of gunfire or lightning bolts sounding off. Ice shifts and you can see and feel cracks forming. Sometimes the water rises and lowers in the fishing holes. I jumped a few times while sleeping and swore my truck fell through but all was well. Just the lake making ice. Totally normal but unnerving for sure when your alone and your truck is parked just outside the shack. 24” of ice so I didn’t have to worry too much.

This was a solo adventure. Since I’m retired I prefer to fish during the week when everyone else is working and enjoy the peace and solitude. A guys gotta have that every once in a while.

Dewey, reading your post I felt like I was watching a movie

The things that you said, are "unique" experiences, unforgettable.

I'm also retired, but having never tried before it's better for me to stay and watch

your ram (obviously) didn't have any problems, otherwise you would have already written it.

Did 1500 miles, NH to Perdido Key Florida.
Here for a month...
2½ days to get here. Poop gas mileage, approx average 20mpg. Failed to do hand calculations by the end of the trip...20250131_172402.jpg20250202_063322.jpg20250202_134850.jpg

Why not fix an oil filter yourself?

I've checked it before and it didn't seem to be loose, and I'm in an RV park so replacing it here is a no go.

i can't blame ya, it was the dealer that left mine kinda loose i'm not skinny so getting my hand on that filter was not easy and i had to tighten the pis out if it.
i guess it's possible that after a few heat cycles the rubber gasket on some filters gets soft and needs to be retorqued a little?

Today I attempted to install a B&M Transmission pan on my 2020 5.7... it didnt fit

Pan was right against the exhaust crossover, in this pic you can see how far it off and this is AFTER clearancing the exhaust slightly

found my filter loose and lost about 1qt of oil coming down from the Arctic last September while camping at a RV park near Banff. Drove it out of the RV park, went under, tighten the filter, refilled the oil, and all is good. RV park owner came out and asked if I needed help, and I told him I just filled the oil and tightened the filter, nothing broke. Guy told me I could've just do that inside since it doesn't count as "repair job" for him lol

Do you think the artic temperatures (cold/hot/cold, contraction/expansion contraction) had anything to do with the filter loose? If you did the oil change how tight do you make the filter? I've always done the 3/4 to 1 turn by hand once the filter makes contact, no tools.

i doubt it since the coldest i got was around low 30s high 20s in August/ Sept. however, I did rip through the rough Dalton, Dempster, and Alcan with million of potholes to smooth out the ride and let the shocks stretch their legs. that could be a contributing factor too. Or could be the shop I had the oil drained and filled in Anchorage loosen it by mistake (told them not to touch the filter).
I do my own oil change afterhours at the shop, but I wasn't about to deal with removing the RCI skid plate on the ground to drain the oil while I'm on vacation, that's why I paid to have my oil changed twice while on that trip to the Arctic.

i'm not sure how to explain how tight i tight it lol. i just hand tight it till it doesn't move (obviously not using body weight to push or whatever).
