Does anyone know which wire?

I had a long detailed post earlier that seems to have just disappeared.

So I'll jump to the chase.

Does anyone know which wire carries the reverse signal to the Uconnect headunit/harness to force the display to show the backup camera feed?

It's not a wire. It's a Fakra cable and it's red on the end.

Thank you for the reply.

I guess my first thread must have been under some kind of admin review because now it is showing.

Here's the details of what I'm trying to do.

So, I unplugged the red Farka cable and you are right in that it definitely is associated with reverse camera because the video feed was just a still image of the last frame it captured. No live video feed.

However, while unplugged, when I shift to reverse, it still triggered the head unit to the reverse camera, which tells me some other wire is triggering the head unit.

Thoughts?

Without reading into it too deep, most likely either the CAN or LIN bus from the BCM controlling the head unit.
Yes. That's what I'm thinking. It's probably some sort of digital signal, but I imagine it's picking it up from something with voltage that I could use to trigger the head unit.

Figuring that out would make adding turn camera's a really easy (and inexpensive) mod for trucks that don't have that feature.

FWIW, I picked up the turn signal trigger from inside the door panels on the black and grey striped wire that goes into a black harness. Easy tap and provides constant 12v when activated. No cameras flashing. The camera's were easily routed inside the side mirror housing through the rubber door chases and everything sits behind the console. Pretty simple.

I'm really close to having this work right.

You could tap into the trailer backup-light wire?

I wonder if that is where the head unit is picking up the signal. I suppose I could test sending 12v through the wire and see if the screen switches to back up cam mode.

Any chance you know where that wire is under the driver kick plate?

White /Brown gets pulled down by the BCM. I would not mess with that unless using an opto-isolator with inverted output.
You could tap to the load side of the F08 under the hood.
This is on my 2019 Rebel. YMMW.

That won`t work, you will be dead-ending to an open relay.
