Well after shopping for two months, I finial decided on a 2025 RAM 1500 Tungsten (Red) for my next RAM truck. I should be picking it up this Tuesday! I have been very happy with my 21 Limited, (21K miles) and it was time to trade. having over 30K in equity in my trade, (45K if it was paid off), It was time for something new. My 21 was White Tri-Coat Pearl-Coat, the Tungsten will be the Delmonico Red Pearl-Coat. I began shopping in early December for a new truck. I went the gauntlet in trucks. First I considered and almost bought the Silverado EV RST or the GMC Sierra EV, then the Cybertruck (One day), then the GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate, and the Chevy Silverado High Country. I was also interested in the RAM with the new Hurricane motors. In the end, I could not beat the features, style, luxury of the RAM trucks compared to what was offered by other brands. Since I was still happy with my 21 1500 Limited, I decided to stick with RAM. Been a while since I posted here since I had no issues, or made mods to me 21 that would have brough me back here on a regular basis, but the wife insisted that I don't post about it on social media lol so I had to vent somewhere lol, needless to say I am very excited! Going through my paperwork for my 21 Limited, my MSRP was a little over 70K for it, and this one is 91K MSRP, with discounts and my trade, I actually financed 3K less than I did for the 21. So my payments are lower for the same term, but insurance is almost double was I was paying on the 21 (sad face). State Farm (Snake Farm) doesn't have on record yet the 25 Tungsten so the rates are artificially inflated, so hopefully after the first 6 months the rates will be better.

I only could afford a limited longhorn, so jealous that you have a tungsten.

Congrats but do shop around for insurance.

In 2018 I left State Farm over the highly inflated rate for the '19 Ram, same reason they gave you.

Congrats!
I’m torn on next truck. Really like my 23 Limited Night edition.. but I love the lux of the Tungsten.
Maybe in a couple years when I’m ready, they’ll have a night edition Tungsten :)
After having Chrome on my first 3 Rams, I’m really liking the night theme.

Agree on shop around, from AAA to Progressive to my new Hanover policy last year… it pays to shop for sure.
You know what they say..Pics or it didn’t happen. :)

Night is the only way to go.

Any updates? How do you like your Tungsten? How does it compare to your ‘21 Limited? That’s what I have, a ‘21 Limited, and I’m really curious if the Tungsten is any quieter or rides any better than the Limited?
Thanks!

i don't get the math if 45k was paid on a truck that cost 70k that leaves 25k are you saying they gave you 55k for the limited? that's the only way you could have 30k in equity? 55k is strong on trade they will have trouble making money off selling it.
starting payments over again i think i would have kept it that limited it is still NEW. you could have refi-ed the 25k the payment would have been around 400 a month.
if you drive that little i would consider leasing, enjoy the new truck

Get what U want, only live once and maybe can only drive even less.
My 23' is the last new vehicle, as long as vision holds out I will enjoy it.
Glaucoma sucks...

Open-angle glaucoma

  • No symptoms in early stages.
  • Gradually, patchy blind spots in your side vision. Side vision also is called peripheral vision.
  • In later stages, difficulty seeing things in your central vision.

you are correct. my brother in law died unexpectedly he was 50. i decided to start living a little more went and bought that camaro ss i always wanted and totaled it like a teenager so i got another a week later, i got it out of my system and traded it on a bighorn it was ok but i am in love with the laramie i got. it's everything i wanted ! my wife was not happy i got the silent treatment for 4 days, but she is starting to come around. that ride to dinner last night and church today was kinda nice with her heated seat. LOL how could you not like a limited or a highly optioned laramie????

This is helpful. I've been bothered by the fact that I went from a relatively new 75K truck to a new 91K truck. I felt like I was pissing money away but I really like the new truck and I'm happy with it so far. I was concerned about the Hurricane but the HO f'in gets there quick and it's quite fun to drive. Creature comfort counts. My wife never even questioned the upgrade so I'm lucky. I think she just wanted me to be happy.

congrats man. I saw some youtube videos about it and this Tungsten is even more luxurious. Massage seats is an option I would love on my Limited.

But what I still dont understand is that we do not have that power adjustable steering column. Even not in the Tungsten.
Does the Tungsten has auto down/up on all 4 windows now? Cause on my '22 Limited, it is only the front windows that go auto up or down.

Those 2 options missing is absurd in a modern vehicle.

Agree. I insure my all of my families vehicles through Progressive, having recently changed from State Farm. With Progressive, my 2025 Tungsten costs only $430 more per year to insure than my daughter’s 2024 RAV4, with identical coverage. That was not the case with State Farm. Their rate was $1,100 more per year and I have no tickets, accidents or claims on my record.

The only negative is that progressive keeps emailing me asking me to install that snapshot driving tracker so that I can qualify for a lower rate. Screw that, I’m not having any insurance company track my every move. That’s invasive.

Finalized the paperwork this afternoon, took the truck home last night. Leaps and bounds better truck than my 21 limited IMO. I had driven a Laramie edition with the standard Hericane motor, before getting this, and I would say in sport mode it seems much more powerful. Compared to the Hemi eTorque , there is no comparison. Seats are very comfortable, the sound system is awesome. Other than that my behind the wheel time has been limited, but I hope to provide more feedback in the days and weeks to come.

MSRP for my 21 Limited was 71K, I financed 53K, I was 4 years in and the trade value for my 21 was 45K, I owed less than 13K, so I neted about 32K, my 25 was 91K, my trade was 45, then pay off and I had about 13K in cash bonus and discounts, my loan amount was 51K on the new truck. If you want to split hairs, I lost about 12K over 4 years. Is that helpful?

Oh boy, ya too me 3 months to get the wife onboard with this deal lol. I hope to retire in 3-4 years, so I am considering this to be my retirement gift. You can't take it with you so enjoy things while you can and are able to.

So a couple updates.
They put 300+ miles on this truck as they drove it back from a dealer in Iowa (At my request, as I searched the RAM site for dealers with the truck I wanted with options, so the extra miles were expected). None of the dealers closer to me that had similar configured (and color) were not willing to dealer trade, as they wanted to hang on to their Tungstens. The dealer I found was recently bought by another local stelantus dealer whom wanted to move some of their 2500's. So my dealer agreed to buy 2, 2500's along with my 1500.
I have not yet went over the truck with a fine tooth comb, but I have paperwork from the dealer saying that if I find anything out of place or damage they will take care of it. They did find that the tailgate support cable on the right side was not working correctly causing the cable to be pinched between the tailgate and the side of the bed, without making sure the cable is seating right in the channel it would cause the tailgate not to fit flush with the top fender (sticking out a bit). They have ordered new support cables and will replace them.

I noticed what appeared to be some moisture in the lower portion of the headlights last night but it was gone by morning, plus the lower portion of the headlights are intentionally frosted, which could have at night made them appear to have moisture in them. I will monitor this.

Seating surfaces, bolsters. Since this has the "sandstone" seating surfaces, (Looks white to me) they are going to get (appear) dirty, and they currently are. Not filthy but dirty. I have expected this. The dealer says they have ordered mopar cleaning products to clean and protect them. Once they get them in they are going to re-detail my truck and clean those areas that have gotten dirty as a result of staff getting in and out. (Truck had about 100 miles on it when they took possession of it, and I am sure the host dealer did nothing to the truck before they dealer traded it

Digital Key: I have one credit card key, and of course two key fobs. But the digital (iphone) key functionality is not available yet. They have a place mark in the digital manual/video but the like is broken, no video. The Uconnect system in the truck provided instructions for setting this up however the option they refer to is not existent in the app. Unless I am missing something. Based on some initial research it looks like perhaps they have pumped the brakes on releasing this as there may have been some sort of security exploit that could allow car thieves to steel the vehicle as a result. The instructions were to load/open the RAM app and scroll down the the digital key icon, then it provide the remaining steps on the screen. I could not locate the digital Key icon.

They have definitely put a lot of work into this truck in regards to sound dampening, that along with the quiet and smooth running i6 TT HO, this truck is super quiet. Ride quality is on par with my 21 Limited, if not slightly better. Perhaps the decrease in weight has helped in this category.

Handling: I would say it handles quite a bit better than my 21, but 4 years and 21K mile break in, and considering I had just recently put new tires on it, could indicate this "feeling".

Coming from the 21 Limited, must of the look/feel and location of controls is familiar, so a few more days with living with this truck, I am feeling right at home. Love this truck!
