What are you towing?

For anyone feeling like they squat too much or are not happy with how their camper tows…

Cargomaxx 351-893HD rear springs. I gained 1.25” in the rear without anything in the bed, which honestly…… Isn’t noticeable at all from the outside. With my WDH adjusted properly, I sit 1 inch higher in the rear and the front end is within 1/8 inch of stock, Ride height. It rides like an absolute dream and handles my 725lbs +/- tongue weight & 30ft TT like an absolute dream loaded. Unloaded it drives like stock.

And in case you run into what I have run into where your tailgate won’t go all the way down with your tongue jack. Give a search and you can find easy instructions to turn the head of your tongue. Jack to let your tailgate drop down.

I'm thinking of turning the jack head also. Did you tap new holes or use the same ones? I would like the light to face the passenger side.

I tapped new holes. I actually messed up the first time and had to rotate it a little more towards the camper.

I got this tap and I set. The video I watched said the bolts were universal and sure enough this was the correct size for me. I did test it on a piece of metal first and took one of the bolts out of the tongue and ran it into the new hole in the tester metal to make sure it worked.

Thanks, buy the picture it looked a little off from what I've seen.

@Gren71...
Did you turn just the jack head? (drill & tap new holes at the top of the jack assembly)
Or did you turn the entire jack? (unbolt from A-frame, drill & tap new holes in A-frame)

The head is separate from stand its self and is easily removed.

I removed the two bolts on either side of the jack head and lifted it off. Put it back on and made sure it was fully seated after turning it 90 degrees, used a pencil to mark the new hole locations on either side. Lifted it back off and drilled/tapped the new holes.

Where I messed up is the head wasn’t fully seated when i marked the holes and one of them was slightly off..requiring me to rotate the head a little more towards drill two new holes. Really take your time to make sure the holes are clearly marked, and you drill into the stand straight so the bolts thread in nice. Id also suggest doing a test drill and tap on a scrap metal chunk to make sure the tap set you have is the correct size for your bolts.

The reason I asked is I have heard it has been done by unbolting the jack at the A-frame...
Thanks!

I believe it depends on the make and model of the jack.
It seen some that have holes that would seem to realign well, and some that just would not line up when rotated.

Another fiver!!! I love it. Nice outfit. Is that the 30RD?
it's a cross roads cruiser aire 28 RD. we like the extra space over the bumper pull we had before

In an RV forum a member commented that he unbolted the jack from the A-frame, relocated the jack using 1 bolt hole & drilled and tapped 2 new holes...
Personally if I were to do something like that I would use a through bolt, lockwasher, nyloc nut & loctite...

Tow too many to show pics. 3 boats ,from 3500 to 7000 lbs, 28 ft camper,20ft utv/atv trailer, 2 utility trailers, and the 7yd hyd dump trailer with 8000 lbs of limestone in it...I use all of my 11,800 lb towing capacity. HEMI ETORQUE!

Id actually love to see how your stock (i assume) suspension handles those if you’re willing to post pics 😁

It handles it just fine..It It wasn't capable It wouldn't be rated for 11,800 lbs. Maybe you should have option yours differently? Next time I pick up limestone I ll snap a Pic and show the weigh ticket..it's around 17,500 to 18000 total , Ram, tandem dump and stone.usually. I use the HEAVY ELECT setting on the RAM trailer control. Stops very well. HEMI pulls it down Interstate no problem.

I got mine off a lot, in retrospect i should have ordered a 2500 how I wanted. But after putting the cargomaxx springs in the rear it handles loads WAY batter. The stock springs had substantial squat with only a 300lbs tongue on my mom’s camper.

Same for my '19. No issues at all. I thin my heaviesst ticket was 16000

One of my friends had a blue Conquest TSI when they came out. To me these cars had one of the best bodies of the time, sporty with a muscular flair on the fenders! Beautiful car you have!
That picture was actually when I was picking it up from a guy in Virginia. I always liked them in my high school/college days, but never had one so I decided I cant' leave the earth without having experienced one. It's nearly forty years old, so it doesn't ride like a modern vehicle, but it handles great and I agree on the body style. Next to the ride of the Ram, it's basically like being in a go kart! :D
