Recently took delivery of my '25 Limited Night Edition with Ram Boxes and the Multi-function tailgate and have been researching tonneau covers and ran across one that seems ideal for what I want/need - the Retrax Pro XR. However, today I found the below YT video online where an owner of this tonneau alleges that there are basically structural issues with it. Has anyone seen this video and are these legitimate concerns? Is this a case of a disgruntled customer? Please share your experiences and suggestions regarding this cover. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Put some shims under those 3 blocks on each side to bring them up 1/8 of an inch.

Will that solve the issue he mentions? I'm not really concerned about what he's saying because the vast majority of reviews, videos and forum posts are positive about this cover. The other thing is it comes with a lifetime warranty.

It will solve the issue with the mounting rail sitting flush with the bed and you still be able to use the silver rails. The gap between the rails and the bed is another issue, which you can solve with a decent weather stripping.

I have one (and bought one for my son). So, 2 data points.

I have not been satifisfied. It leaks too much.

I've removed each cover (body work, rear window TSB, etc.), and reinstalled. The instructions say the rails should be angled about 3^. Yeah, good luck with that. Without an aggressive angle, the roller track (that acts as a gutter) will just dump water into the bed. Plus, the drains at the cannister fall out...all the time. (I modded mine and am happy with my fix. But it took some doing.)

In short...good idea, poorly executed.

FWIW.

Thank you for sharing that! I did see a YT video where someone talked about the drain hose connection falling out. What modification did you make?

If you were to replace it, what tonneau would you go with? Thanks again!

I have one without the track system. Works great, no leaks or issues with drain tubes.

I'm thinking about the hard tri-folding one. Hmm. (Forget the name) But, I like the tracks on the Retrax. I have some racks for my bikes and I use them for that.

I used grey electrical conduit waterproof fittings for the drainlines after the original ones kept falling off. I put the metal ring for the conduit fitting inside the cartridge box, screwed the conduit fitting in. Then I connected appropriate hose to conduit fitting.

My retrax did well for about 6-8 months...then it started leaking along the edges. NOT from water coming UNDER the sides...but water on top running under and into the wheel track then letting it drain into the bed.

It's a good idea, but it doesn't work for me (or my son) the way it should. Having said that, the common denominator is me. I've installed both. (I tried shims, I torqued to spec, I under-torqued, I over-torqued, I twisted as I secured it, I put seals on, etc., etc.)

If the tracks had a higher "curb" where the wheels roll, then it would "gutter" better. It's the gutter failure that has led to all my issues with this product.

It keeps rain from falling directly on my stuff, but the bed gets wet. It gets wet at both ends and along the edges near the middle of the bed.

Thank you for the feedback! I decided to go ahead and purchase this one and have installed it according to the instructions. It's now time for a leak test. Wish me luck!

I have this cover and I love it but it does leak a little. I have a bed rug installed so most of the water drains under the bed rug. I wish that it was more waterproof but from my research, there are no bed covers that are 100% waterproof for trucks with ramboxes unless it’s the soft cover that works with black rails. I used weather stripping between the bed and the rails, between the cover and where the drum sits on the bed by the cab and even used the rambox seals between the ramboxes and the tailgate.
