the filler neck and the plastic trim have to be replaced. shouldnt take the dealer too long to repair once parts are in.
can you still put fuel in the tank?
if the seal is totally messed up you may see a check engine light pop on.

I replaced the gas fuel filler housing in the '15 Jeep. Part was under 100 for the plastoc housing and included the door. The door body piece just transfered 9ver on clips. The housing is all the black plastic surrounding the fuel filler neck.

Took about 45 minutes.

I am having a hard time deciphering... what exactly is the damage to the actual neck?

The black plastic thing that holds on the capless gas cap broke.

Ok, that looks like the ring I had in the jeep too. I took it off and left it off when I replaced housing. Hasnt had a problem since. The fuel neck has a series of blockers that block fumes and also redirexts attempting fuel vapor to the charcoal xanister inside the neck itself.

The black pice appeared to simply just be there with no discernable purpose in my eyes.

But like I said it hasnt created an issue for me to not have it yhere for the jeeps capless.

I am not even sure my longhorn has that flap on the very top. I just have that flap with the indention. You have a rebel? Maybe its an extra layer for possible dust and sand driving that rebel owners likely may do? I have to check mine later to be sure.

At any rate, the neck looks bent and fumes will leak, and i do believe you will, if not already, start getting a large vapor leak CEL.

Does look like a new neck is in order. And housing.
