LT285/75R18 on 2020 RAM 1500

Ok folks, its almost time for new tires on my 2020 RAM 1500 4x4 North edition. I'd like to get a little higher ride height so I'm thinking a taller tire,

LT285/75R18 (34.8" diameter) to replace the OEM LT275/65R18 (32.2" diameter).​

The truck is completely stock, no lifts, no level kits. My question is, will this size tire fit without rubbing?

Thoughts?

Bone stock it may be close. You'll probably be fine driving down the road, but articulating the suspension (especially if you're turning at the time) may result in some contact.
FWIW, I have that size on my truck, but I've got a leveling kit. I've got a pretty good amount of clearance but I'm not sure I'd try to squeeze them in without the level.

Just started to research the same thing. I have a 2021 Built to Serve edition. Will likely put a leveling kit on when I have new tires installed.

So, I went with LT275/70R18 tires, replacing the stock LT275/65R18 tires. Definitely changed the looks of the truck. No rub or touching on stock suspension. I have noticed the decline in fuel efficiency, seems to have dropped about 2 MPG with the change. Also, the speedometer is off 2 MPH @ 65. I'm going to fix the speedometer today.

Also, I found a great deal on the tires @ Amazon of all places! $33/tire less than any place else.

So how are the 285/75r18s working for y’all? I hadn’t much thought of this size as I was thinking something wider since traction can be an issue for me on occasion with hard acceleration.

I also upgraded to 275/70/18, Stock Ram 1500 No issues with any clearance. Speedo was off but i re-programmed it. Will be doing a long trip soon and will be able to see if there is any difference in gas mileage, but so far around town no difference.

Which tires did you guys go with? i may be switching out my falken soon. May be going with either toyo or Michelin just not sure which is better but i do like the falken a lot lol. Maybe ill go back to them

So just completed a 2 month 7800 mile trip with the new tire upgrade (Michelin 275/70/18) averaged around 9.5 mpg. Was getting about the same with the old 275/65/81.

i dont tow anything, but i've read that the larger wheels can effect towing capability. did you notice any differences?

Thinking about this tire size on my BackCountry to replace my 275 65 18’s.

I’m guessing with the extra 1” of ride height on the ORG I should be fine. Can anybody confirm this?

LT275/70r18 should fit with no rubbing? Looking to change out my Falken AT3 soon with the continental terrain contact h\t.

Debating whether its worth it to go up in rims size to 20s or not either just cuz the 18s are so close to the caliper smh

I have a completely stock 2019 Ram 1500 and upgraded to the 275/70/18. I have had absolutely no issues other than the speedo was off, which i re-calibrated so everything is good.

This would be a bigger issue if you have the 3.21 gears. I have the 3.92 and tow a TT a few times a year. I have had absolutely no problem towing. I have 295/65r20 tires with a 3"/2" level.

I like my 20's but sometimes wish I had stayed with the stock 18's. I could have had more tire to help cushion the ride a bit more. I also think I will be going DOWN in tire size when the time comes to replace my current tires. I am thinking 275/65r20 instead.

Another note to anyone looking at new tires, don't forget the spare. You don't want to need it and have a 32" spare, but 35" on the truck. And keep in mind that anything over ~34" will NOT fit under the truck without removing the heat shield and/or grinding on the back of the hitch.

275/70/18 fits without rubbing. In that size there is only a General AT and a couple General snow tires (probably off the same carcass) that are "C" range, all others are "E" range. If you like the 20's, most tires in 275/60/20 are "C" range, for a better ride and higher mpg for a 1/2 ton truck.

Yeah the cont terrain I was looking at is rated E. I'm more afraid of it rubbing due to my -12mm off set fuel wheels but yeah I feel you , I got a/t on atm and I feel like it's a bit over kill for the road condition around me

Same as I had on my 2019 BigHorn. With a 1.5 Level the only ever touched on a full crack of the steering wheel when it was cold (below zero) and the springs settle a little.
Summer time was never an issue.
