You're killing me! Teasing us with tales of easy oil changes in half trucks. 😆 You know you don't have the parts to struggle around that complete trucks have.

Thats what you get for buying a "best 3 seconds" truck with mountain peanut 3.92 gears. Need all them extra none binary parts to feel manly😄

How do you "I loosen the filter then spin it off with a towel and drop in in the oil catch can"
It can't even fall down without you forcing it down between wires and other devices.

Do you even have the same truck as us???

Edit: Looks like you only have 2wd. I BELIEVE it's way differnet up front where the oil filter is if you have 4wd. For us with 4wd it's more "complicated".

There's people with 4x4's that have said they don't have these struggles, search oil changes

Do a search, there's some even posting in this thread 😆
No one said the oil filter is easy on this thread.
Someone describing using zip lock baggies or get the oil filter off isn't what I would call easy, most trucks you just turn it off by hand and take it off and let it drip, bad idea to do on these trucks as there are electrical plugs directly under the filter.

You have 2wd so it's completely different.

Nor did I, RIF (reading is fundamental). I said I hadn't made a mess as others have stated.
The electric PS rack is still in my way for filter changes, I simply figured out another way to complete the job.

Not true. But whatever you think.

Uhhhhh, I've got a 4x4 and I have zero problems changing my oil or filter. Not sure what the problem is. Spin off the filter, little dab of oil on the seal, spin on the new filter. I have yet to get any on my driveway or the wiring or anything else.

Exceedingly simple job. It takes me more time to clean out the center console, or change the timing on my Challenger.

The oil filter is easy to change on these trucks. Extremely simple. The easiest and simplest and quickest and cleanest of most of the vehicles I've owned, which is many.

You must have a custom model with an oil filter that isn't in the same location as anyone else with a 4wd.

Booyaka, Booyaka. Some people maybe attempting something they're not really qualified to do.

Also, 👍🏼 on the RB Challenger, love a big block E body; my dream car along with a 68-70 Charger.
Had a 73 318 Charger that I did the same thing to

You adapt and hard/easy is relative. I don't find oil changes on these trucks noteworthy, 4x4 or not.
If a jiffy lube guy can do it and you can't...... Bless your heart and here's a bud light for you

Yeah, no idea wtf kind of truck he has, can't be a hemi with 4x4, maybe a Pentastar?
This thread turned into straight troll.

Changing the oil is not rocket science but the oil filter location sucks, it's not hard unless you care about getting oil all over electrical connectors, rubber boots, and other devices and shouldn't have oil on them then it is a pain compared to a regular oil change on pretty much anything else. Anyone who doesn't agree with that is just wrong as it's fact.

Maybe it's not that those of us that can do it with no mess are extra, maybe it's those that can't are just basic.
Could It have been designed better, like the TRX? Yes. Is it difficult? No

I didn't say it was "hard", but you aren't going to just spin the filter off without getting oil all over your steering rack, to include the electrical for it. At least not without other steps. Especially if you care about your vehicle and aren't using the tiny factory filter. Ziplock bag trick doesn't work with the larger filters. I just let it drop, then spray everything off with parts cleaner.

As far as your bud light comment. (moderator hat on) I suggest leaving personal attacks out of any future posts.

If you added a larger filter, making it more difficult, it isn't the trucks fault.

Even with the factory filter, you aren't just going to unscrew it without oil dripping down onto steering rack and other components below the filter, on a 4x4.

Even using the ziplock bag method I wouldn't call as "easy" based upon the fact you need extra stuff to do it.
The oil udder with tubing from Home Depot worked perfectly with the original filter (not with the STR) but needing a $30 funnel just for an oil change doesn't mean it's "easy" either imo.

Fumoto F106N for the win. No need for additional moving parts that could leak or fail over time. Buy the optional tube, drain directly into the pan, done in no time. The sway bar is not in the way and is not a problem.

If I ever meet the guy who picked the oil filter location I'm going to kick him in the testicles.

Its a pain to get the filter off without a bit of a mess. I used a zip lock bag. Stiil managed to get some oil on the connector harness. I still prefer it to letting someone else do it.

Nobody is saying doing an oil change on these trucks is inherently "hard" to do. Doing an oil change, especially the filter, without getting oil spilled on places it shouldn't be, is difficult.
