Additional lights in tow hook spot

Does anyone know of, or has seen a additional “fog light” to be installed where the tow hooks install? I do not have the hooks, just the covers, and it would seem that would be a perfect place to install some additional lights…
If not, might have to get fancy with a 3D printer or modify the existing covers…..

I've seen several variations of lighting added where the tow hooks would be. Not sure if there is anything in production to do this as every example that I have come across was a DIY application. Personally, I wasn't a fan of how any of them looked but a couple of them seemed to be done well. The cleanest setup I've found was where the owner installed the plastic tow hook bezels in the front bumper and then made a bracket to hold his lights that mounted in the same location the tow hook bolts go. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures you can reference, but this has been successfully done more than once.

I will do some more google fu to see if I can find something…. Finding some quality lights should not be an issue, just getting it to look factory and like you said “not cheesy” is going to be the biggest problem.. might have to go buy a couple of those blank covers to experiment with…and yes, the tow hook bolts are a great place for a secure attachment….I am going to see if a 3D printer can use the type of plastics that are like OEM quality…maybe play around with a plastic welder? Never messed with one of those…..

I wonder if this (or an adaptation thereof) would work on the front.
@Shifts And Grins Fab ???

I'll take a peek at the front hooks and see what we can do. Should be a fairly easy design and build depending on how much room Ram gave us to work with.

Funny that I see this topic here, as I asked exactly the same thing in the topic from @Shifts And Grins Fab about the reverse light in the rear tow hooks:

Diode Dynamics Reverse Lights

Also cause I found by googling, for the 4th gen, a topic where people asked for a solution to have lights fixed on/in the tow hooks and someone did it as well.

Also I saw pictures of a F-150 with a LED bar attached on the tow hooks:

So personally I think that, for example the lights I show below can be fitted in the spot where the tow hooks are, or placed on top of the tow hooks for trims that have them.

or brighter lights, also 2" from RC, are these:

I need to look at a few different trims parts numbers for tow hooks. I suspect they are the same so the same bracket would work across multiple trim lines. If I can make one work with and without tow hooks that would great but I suspect to make them look right it will require two different ones.

I think that a bracket that can be attached on upper or lower side of the tow hook is easier to create than when there is no hook at all.

Or a bracket that attaches to a factory bolt behind the plastic bumper cover would do when there is no hook. Or, just like the lower grill led bar brackets, you could use the factory bolt of the tow hook to slide a piece of the bracket in between.

I gave it some further thought last week, it is maybe already possible to attach a bracket to the tow hook, like a rectangular piece of metal with a hole, of course something that cannot get taken of without tools. On that piece of metal we an attach a small 2 or 3 inch light, it just depends how the depth of the light is.
Probably also the tow hook will be blocked for towing usage by the bracket or light.
I tried to describe it like I have it in my head, if I would be good with photoshop I would have created my design on an image :D

Anything new on this topic? I would love to upgrade that area and change hooks for some bright lights. Thanks!

Waiting for my new TRX to get here. The other one was totaled. I was using the TRX to mock stuff up and then test fit on other trims. Yes it will be possible but the area is tight with a tow hook and the trim. I was actively playing with options up until our truck was totaled.

I would remove the towhooks, and just have a light there if possible.
And I'm really sorry about your truck. It's hard not to take those things personal.

But without the tow hooks, how can you securely and firmly add lights?

And it is handy to have the tow hooks. Although I never used them yet.
The ideal setup is to do it without loosing the hooks. It is way easier to do it with removing the hooks. The light bracket would mount to the hook mount locations. I could possibly build a single bracket that has an adjustment where the light mounts so the light could be located in the ideal position regardless of whether the hook is present or not.

I see what you mean Liquid Lion, however I have never even come close to using the front hooks. I don't realistically think I ever will. I do think they were a great idea for trucks, and they look good, but I never go offroad and only tow a trailer, do yard work hauling, and Home Depot runs. I just don't think I will ever use them. So, thus the lights 😁

I was seeing if y’all could make something like this for the 5th gen Rams that hook up a led light bar to the front tow hooks? I keep my tools in my truck at all times so if I ever had to use my tow hooks I could just unbolt and it but to be honest I haven’t used my front tow hooks once. An OP posted this earlier in the thread and I really like it and can’t seem to find anyone that makes something like this.
